In regards to what happened in Boston yesterday - I hope everyone who was near the finish line or was running is ok. From what I have followed on Twitter, all Ivy student athletes have been accounted for and are ok.

Thanks for the update, C/M! I know that there's a lot of work involved.
While your compilation has Harvard's women well back in third, I've yet to encounter anyone who considers them worse than co-favorites for outdoor Heps. The main reason, I think, is that so many of the Harvard marks on your list are from this year--or at least belong to women who've been competing in the last few weeks. Columbia and Cornell, by contrast, have a number of top women who've been DNC the entire outdoor season--you have to wonder whether they'll be available for outdoor Heps (just 2 1/2 weeks away, now).
Anyway, having put together a few virtual scorings--just from *one* season's performance list--I can really understand how much effort you and fun. must put into your updates. Much obliged.
One note: I see that you have K. Kellner listed twice in the 5,000m. Now that I *know* is an undoable double!
Wow, here's a strange one: the Cornell sports website is saying that the Big Red's meet at Binghamton U., that was scheduled for Saturday, is being moved to Friday "due to concerns about the weekend weather." But the National Weather Service sees a 40% chance of showers on Saturday in Vestal, NY, and a 60% chance of thundershowers on Friday! How do ya figure? (Meanwhile, the NWS also sees Sunday's weather as mostly sunny, with a high in the 50s.)
Okay, yeah, they think it'll be cold at Binghamton on Saturday (good chance of snow that night), and they think Friday will be much warmer, with temps getting into the 70s. But what good are somewhat warmer temps in rain, strong gusting winds, and lightning?
Anyway, good luck to all the teams participating in Binghamton's meet. Be safe.
Strange--a couple posts have been added to this thread recently, yet it doesn't seem to have been bumped to the first page.
Didn't this thread used to be over 21 pages too?
And BRF, thanks for finding the typo! At least she didn't get double points for that. And yes, a lot of the best marks from Columbia and Cornell are NOT from this year, particularly with people coming off from time off or injury. I think that perhaps in thae next few weeks I might do a tweaked listing adjust for more recent marks AND removing indoor conversions for the 1500 since no one is close to the conversions right now, thoughts? I can't guarantee that I will do this due to my busy schedule these next few weeks.
Ok, now all of the pages seem to be back AND new posts are moving the thread to the front.

Y'know, I'm *still* impressed that Harvard did not put Salander in the pentathlon indoors. I had really thought that was a no-brainer. Now *that* was confidence.
Query: does she have a hept mark yet? (I saw that she had DNFed a hept earlier this spring.) Is she likely to go hept at Penn, thus not doing it at Heps?

Yeah, seriously. I hope everyone has a good safe meet.

Salander does not have an outdoor Hept mark for this year (she had DNFed that earlier Hept in Texas because she NH the HJ). I don't know when she'll do a full out Hept again, but I was wondering if she would do one at this weekend's Larry Ellis invite or wait until next week at Penn (although I think that would be too close to Heps if they want her to be at complete rest so she could do another multi-individual performance again for the team).
UPDATE: she is not competing at Larry Ellis according to the heat sheets on Princeton's website. So who knows when she will do a heptathlon.

Looks like they got the meet in just fine...although from wind readings, it was windy. Rain (no t-storms) didn't hit the Binghamton area until the evening and it was a warm day around here:

I'm delighted to agree that Binghamton's decision paid off and that I was wrong in my concerns.
Those wind readings are all over the map, making me think that lap races must have faced a tough headwind at some point--some good performances in those events nevertheless.
Fifteen days to Heps...
Okay, we seem to hear about Cornell's meets a lot--what's happening at the other teams' meets this weekend? Obviously Abbey's 5,000m was monstrous, but what other significant performances (team/individual) have there been?

Sorry, I don't follow the other teams too closely. But:
Does anyone know whether any teams are competing today? If everyone's done for the weekend, I can try putting together a virtual scoring--can tell you in advance that it will differ in "interesting" ways from what fun. and C/M have posted!

Thanks, as always, fun.--I finally got a virtual scoring done (based only on the current season's tfrrs list, as of last night), and I think the two together do a decent job of showing where the Ivy teams are now, and where they can be.
I'm not going to recite all the usual caveats, beyond saying these are not predictions. Here's what I got, and *please* correct me if I got any math wrong (I'm not listing fractions, as usual, so totals may differ by one from the sum of their parts.
Scoring everything: Cornell 194, Harvard 101, Columbia 86, Princeton 81, Dartmouth 68, Penn 67, Brown 45, Yale 17.
This is so grotesquely at variance with what I suspect the real situation will be, I'm almost at a loss for my usual hundreds of words. Yes, Bruno H-R probably won't contest all three sprints in which he's currently "scoring" (nor will John Spooney), and Cornell's jav man hasn't shown in any results since their first meet; but, as far as the tfrrs list's virtual scoring is concerned, do those things matter?
I won't even give my usual breakdown of individual/relay, track/field/dec scoring. The relays are screwy, as usual, especially the lightly-contested 4x8 (though Penn's 7:43 there is legit). It's funny, in following their results this season I had thought that Cornell had some weakness, particularly in events like IH and TJ that are often their strong points; but they're projecting 95 points in the field alone, and that makes such considerations irrelevant.
Well, not irrelevant in real life, just on the performances list. It seems like we somehow lost a weekend this year; that, plus the unpredictable weather, means we just can't get a line on how things are going. I think Penn Relays will be a big, and important, coming-out party for several teams, Princeton foremost among them. I hope the weather is decent there, so we can get a bit more of an idea of how teams look.
___________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________
On the women's side, here's what I got from scoring all events: Columbia 152, Harvard 119, Cornell 113, Princeton 92, Brown 66, Dartmouth and Penn 61, Yale 25.
Again, one team's dominance here has kept me from presenting the various subscores. Yes, Columbia's the only team with a 4x8 mark; but, again, that doesn't make much difference. With their distance runners (they've got more than Neer) healthy and a hale Hale, the Lions project to score in almost every track event and to produce a solid crop of field points.
If Abbey goes 1500/3000 again, that'll cut points from Columbia in those events--and from everyone else except Cornell, which amazingly now projects zero in the 800/1500/3000. Even so, it's hard to come up with a scenario wherein my beloved Big Red pull out a win--if Columbia should somehow falter, Harvard (with likely increased scoring from Salander) is in a position to pick up the pieces.
As with the men, I think Penn will give us a much better read on how the teams look this season (watch out for Princeton), but a healthy Columbia is assuredly the team to beat.
Ok I did the women's scoring by fun.'s method. I applied 2 tweeks though:
1) I removed Hale's 200m (23.33) and 400m (52.40) bests from the scoring. The 200m removal did not matter as Hale ran the fastest conference time of the year this past weekend (23.80), but it did make an impact on the 400m as she is clearly 2 seconds slower and I am not expecting her to get close to that time with 2 weeks to go.
2) I removed D'Agostino from the 1500. If she was going to be doing that event at Heps, she would have raced one by now (unless there is a precedent of someone going into the 1500m with no-time). I kept her in the 3k since it isn't uncommon for people to do that with no time going into it.
No relays, no other guessing on what people will or will not be doing. I did my best to clean up the listings to remove any duplicates.

"2) I removed D'Agostino from the 1500. If she was going to be doing that event at Heps, she would have raced one by now (unless there is a precedent of someone going into the 1500m with no-time). I kept her in the 3k since it isn't uncommon for people to do that with no time going into it.
No relays, no other guessing on what people will or will not be doing. I did my best to clean up the listings to remove any duplicates."
There is precedent: Abbey herself. She did not contest the event last year outdoors until the heps, which she won in a meet record time I believe. In fact, many people have done events at heps without racing them during the season. She has only one run race outdoors this season, the 5k last week. I think it would be an error to make assumptions about what she will do at heps based on her schedule to date.
She did the 5K only as a frosh, then the 1500/3k/4x8 triple as a soph. She could do anything and in fact seems to have a different schedule every year. Guessing is fruitless and undermines the accuracy of your exercise.
Take out Richmond of Columbia as she hasn't competed all year and remove Sorna from either the steeple or 5000m and it becomes a crapshoot.
If you want it without any removals, then this is the team scoring:
Columbia - 123
Cornell - 117
Harvard - 91
Brown & Princeton - 86
Dartmouth - 59
Penn - 23
Yale - 4
This does include Abbey's 4:10.00 (conversion of her indoor Millrose Mile) and Hale's 52.40 (from 2011 outdoors)
None of these exercises are accurate predictions on what will happen at Heps. This version shows more potential while BRF's version shows more current info, particularly when the potential scoring method takes into account a lot of performances that are from previous seasons.
