Why Wisconsin will NOT qualify for NCAAs

You have neglected to mention that GL regional is being held in Madison, WI. Badgers have a huge advantage by being able to run the course all fall.

While they may be good on paper, I think the question is how the team responds to Coach Watson. Hopefully Amirault doesn't get injured either as he is injury-prone.

They barely qualified last year on the backs of the last of Warhurst recruiting with Forys and April. Who did they replace them with?

Wisconsin has never not qualified for the NCAA's in cross country since the NCAA started the qualifying regionals process in 1972. There will be guys you never heard that will step up. No other team has that record.

They are the defending champs and their 30:00 10k runners and 14:20 runners will come through if they have to. Like they always have.

Yeah Michigan is garbage with some guy named Dan Lowry leading the pack.

Do research buddy, Michigan has a legit #1 Lowry and has a solid core coming back and Tony S. (incoming freshman) is pretty darn good.

The question of where Wisconsin will be in the Region and the Big Ten's if Ahmed redshirts is interesting and valid, but the OP makes no pretense at objectivity. Just assume everybody running for Michigan, Notre Dame and Indiana (especially the awesome Morrow/Ricker duo that will be unleashed) will have a great day and then Wisconsin shows up with nobody, and at their home course no less?

Why would Mo Ahmed redshirt? He ran the 10000m at the Olympics, not the 800m. Unless he has been injured since then, he is good to go. Whether Wisco wins again (I don't really care either way) is not going to depend upon NCAA predictor, who obviously doesn't know what he/she is talking about. Michigan is crap, unless these guys magically become sub-13.30 guys overnight.

Wisconsin crushed Indiana at Big 10's last year with all their talent. If they don't have a front runner they will put together a team that will finish within 35 seconds together like when the when they won NCAA's with no one in the top 16 but 5 guys within 35 seconds over 10k. Thats the team they have this year.

Wisconsin will be top 5 with or without Ahmed. Indiana won't be winning Big Tens anytime soon. Watchout for Alex Brill. Kid is a beast.

With Mick's ability to mesh smart training with team chemistry will certainly make them a contender this year. He's not a blow smoke recruiter. Wisco is tough to get in academically, even if you are recruited. He's a great mentor figure for kids who go there. He's courted two of my Footlocker kids but they thought Madison would be too cold. I do wonder if that is a fear that many kids have.

Will Arkansas and Oregon make it to nationals this year?

When Mick recruited one of my kids, he lied to him and then left him high and dry.

Wow. It did not take long for the mob to turn unruly. Props to Byrne for putting the best interests of Ahmed's career first. Also, he has said it is time for the next generation to step up. I'm excited for the future.

I know that WISCO's top runner got into wisconsin and was unable to get into a couple of other big ten schools. So check your stats.

You sound like another coach trying to negative recruit Mick and wisconsin.

Also while the winters are cold the spring and fall are the best training weather you can have. Winter is best time to build a base not be crushing it on an outdoor track.

When i was recruited to Wisconsin the coaches at other schools would say, "Have fun running on a treadmill 4 months out of the year". I can count the number of times in 5 years i was forced to run on a treadmill on one hand.

When I went there in 5 years only once time did the weather force me indoors. And that an ice storm that made running faster than 10 minute pace dangerous.

We hardly even trained on the indoor track in the winter. They do great job in that city with snow removal in certain neighborhood and the road through the Arb.

Not to say its ideal conditions, though. Those winters were LONG.
