Looking for some advice, any would be appreciated.
Background;
Severe overtraining/undereating at a very low BMI (18/19, and yes I am a male).
Continued to train hard but overeating for a year or so.
Lots of ups and downs of the same thing.
The negatives from 2-3 years of this included low sex drive, sunken face, body composition changes, extreme hunger (from never getting hunger before), inability to gain weight, and many more.
Last year, realized I felt like crap compared to before my overtraining bouts. Took a month off of absolutely nothing, sex drive returned like crazy, more facial hair growth, facial structural changes (positive changes), got stronger without lifting weights (as opposed to getting weaker lifting weights before). Best I had felt in a long, long, long time.
Anyways, had to jump back on the running wagon due to scholarship constraints. Hung on for a while, but ended up almost back where I started. Leads me to believe it's a more parasympathetic/adrenal type of over training.
I have now developed dark circles under my eyes and my face looks sunken, motivation isn't there, developed allergies and my sex drive just isn't there at all when I'm training.
Still have two years left under scholarship obligations, want to take time off but I know I need to, and I want, to run to get in shape in the interest of my coach. Due to the nature of the overtraining (parasympathetic and adrenal related I belive) my coach just thinks I'm crazy.
Anyone have any experiences like this? I can't explain what I would give to just have a break from running physically and mentally.
What should I do LR?
