Great run by her. She should be happy with her performance.

I wonder if she didn't run far out in lane 2 and almost lane 3 for a good part of the race if she might have made the team.

Abbey D'Agostino is awesome. I admire so much how she stepped up and competed at a new level, and did not seem to put limits on herself. Looking forward to her next season!!

She will be the best 5k/10k runner in American history. And she will medal at the world championships. Few predicted that she would get 3rd in the 2011 NCAA 5k. Few predicted that she would so close to qualifying for the Olympics. She keeps better, and I don't think anybody knows where her true ceiling is.

Don't forget the gritty race she ran against Goethals at NC's (makes me wonder how Goethals would have done here). She has all the tools for a consistent champion, but she has improved so fast that she almost can't keep up psychologically. Two yearas ago she was a 5:00 high school miler for criminy sake!

A more seasoned runner would have seen that Lucas was dead meat from 200 out and would have zeroed in sooner and punched her ticket, this is why she is so upset. There seems to be a lot of upheaval in the women's 5000 right now, and if she stays healthy it is her destiny to fulfill.

Didn't they say 5:07 or 09 on NBC? Even more amazing and gives hope to all those hard workers out there.

Two years ago (her senior year in high school) she ran over 5:10 for the mile (5:15 I think). Granted, she had mono or something and bad coaching, but she just closed a 15:19 5k in about a 4:40 mile! CRAZY. Skies the limit for her.

That video is heartbreaking, but I love how much she believes in herself. Even when racing against experienced pros, she is confident she has a good shot.

Same with NCAAs. She's new to the level, but she believes she's the best.

I remember her saying something after taking 3rd at NCAA XC behind Sheila Reid and Jordan Hasay that she was in poor position when Jordan made the first move with 200m left and that she wishes she had been more ready. I was struck that she actually thought she could win, and wasn't just happy to be on the podium. That's a true champion right there.

She's a few years away from hitting the times Shalane Flanagan has, but if she stays healthy and motivated she has the ability to run faster than 14:44 and 30:22. And what a tough racer.

Great to see in the video how much she cares. You can't teach that kind of desire. She's not content being close to the Olympic Team, but is genuinely devastated because she feels like she's capable of more. Good stuff.
