Should be a doozy today with the finals! We've already learned about the spacing between hurdles in the 400 IH, what great quotes will Larry drop next? Of course we have plenty of information regarding pacing with the 800 and 5k finals later.

The 100 meters: "45 Steps to Glory"
did you know that the 10k is twice as long as the 5k?
whoever the other announcer is, 'focus on the middle of the track, lanes 3-6'.
It is the 800 meters.....
He just told some crazy story about how Charles Jock escaped civil war in Sudan, made his way to Ethiopia, and then to San Diego. I guy named Charles Jock? They just interviewed him. He speaks perfect English. Larry must have been mixing him up with Meb Keflezighi, or maybe Lopez Lomong. Doesn't anyobdy give him notes on these guys?
after the women's 8 went through in 57.7x
"we got a good pace here, somewhere around 60 seconds for the first lap"
Yeah, other guy just said as the 800m women had about 150 to go that they were fighting it out in lanes 5 and 6, but everyone was in lane 1 strung out. Maybe they had hip numbers 5 and 6? Who knows?
Hmm poor Larry, can't remember Jenny Simpson's maiden name.
Poor Larry, Thiessen is from Canada.
How many football fields was the distance the Oregon heptathlete threw the javelin?
This guy is so bad. How does he keep getting the call to do these meets?
Rawson is awful, and I wrote ESPN to say so, and got nothing back but a computer driven email.
But the story about Jock escaping Sudan is correct, read the Rec. Read story on the front page of LetsRun, it'll make you a Jock supporter! He escaped when he was 3, no wonder he speaks great English.
Lets watch the women's shotput!!! What!!??! With 5 laps to go in the 5000.... sighs...

Hugs all around! You always see that in Track and Field.

Which is why the sport should be called Track.
they're on the anchor lap now!
(of the 5000)
Here's Lalang getting up there...to get his points....and he gets it.
In fairness to Larry, that gem was uttered by the other dude (Trey ?)

Damn, he's doling out the death sentences here; apparently Jack Whitt the pole vaulter has 60 years left to live.
