I get hurt so often that I've thought about just putting in base training all of the time, nothing more then tempo-like runs in the middle of a long run at the most. I also thought that heavy an-aerobic 5K type or faster training a waste of emotional/physical energy. It's a lot easier to get pumped up for a road 5K-1/2marathon, then to go to the track & run speedwork.
You read books like Jack Daniels & Owen Anderson, all those two guys talk about is hard ass busting workouts. I won't/can't absorb that type of punishment anymore.
Will just going to the open track meets & road races bring me top results in time?
Does anyone know of a elite runner who never stepped on a track or ran overly hard during the week but used races as speed training with good results?
