Where are all of their runners? Taye, Dennin, Springer?

Taye looked great at their home meet. Rumored that Springer had sore achilles but is back training.

Georgetown men will blow up at nationals
taye ran well at home meet--should be back next week. others have been injured. Gtwn men have had a tough time lately, women doing much better.
The team does not seem to be doing well lately. Other than Bumbalough they've been sliding downhill for a while. What is the problem?

Coaching perhaps?
Their women do pretty well, #4 at recent NCAA XC. I know they have a different coach, though I thought they used a similar program. Someone who has good info needs to weigh in for a real answe.

It's true, it's true. We're so lame.
Henner has well-thought out training plans, and he seemed pretty good about controlling people from overdoing workouts. I have nothing to complain in the technical training part... but he kind of creates a negative atmosphere on the team with his "I'm not going to talk to you unless you had a good race or workout, or your just one of my favorites." approach. Its probably just his personality to have this tough love/ survival of the fittest way of doing things, but I think it might create headcases. In my opinion the coach/athlete relationship needs to have a more unconditional support vibe. And i think henner had that with his top guys/his favorites and that's why a few would always do well, but he would not be there for the whole team. In the past he has cut 3rd year runners after bad races, and kicked other people off the team if they weren't show potential for fast times. In my opinion that might contribute to poor team showings// massive dropouts at nationals time and time again... That's the type of pressure that creates chokers. Just my two cents.
I like Henner as a coach and knowledgeable source on running, but I suggest he change his interactions with his athletes a bit..
Henner sounds like the perfect guy to be Assistant Coach.
It is called accountability...it is too bad that these athletes think is it ok to have a piss poor performance and then smile and joke around about it after a race. Guess what...if you do shitty at work you get fired....Henner's mentality is good for those athletes once they get into the real world. And after all, a coach's job is to make them better runners, better people, and prepare them for life after college. Good for Henner.
It could be that Henner(or whoever does the rectg)for some reason can't get or pick the right athletes, or has bet too much on a couple of stars that didn't pan out. Whether its because of the coaching approach or athlete selection the mens team seems to be slipping quite a bit.

Maybe the coach should start to have some accountability.
Seems like it is for everyone else, but not the guy in charge.
Or yeah,"my athletes run crappy."
Lets see:
Athletes run fast.
I recruit athletes.
I train athletes.
Athletes run slow or are hurt.
Therefore, it must be a problem with the athletes.
Makes sense to me! I can be a D1 coach too; I'll recruit top notch talent, do a shitty job, and then when they fail, I'll blame it all on them!
Maybe the athlete goes out and parties? Doesn't care anymore (it happens)? Goes over board on the all you can eat meal plans? Stays up late studying and then runs bad workouts? Stays up all night bangin his gf?
Not sure Henner can control all of those things. However, if the athlete does follows the plan 100%, then you can look at the coach....
Accountability is in fact a 2 way street.
I heard Springer's got a big shlong.

Yeah, AN athlete. One here or there.
We're talking about a PROGRAM here.
Look, either a coach is in charge of a program or he's not.
If you're saying that an athlete parties, and overeats, stays up late - I'm telling you that a coach is doing a bad job. Either he recruited the wrong type of kid, or he doesn't know how to manage athletes.
Georgetown's program has been going downhill since Henner took over. The COACH should be accountable for a program.
All the bombing at nationals the last few years is because the athletes just didn't care enough...is that what you're saying?
I've got a feeling its the location more than anything. Correct me if I'm wrong, but there really aren't any trails around DC. TONS of traffic, make running hard. No where to run in the winter. No track, etc.

There are trails in DC, you just need to know where they are. They aren't the best trails but they do exist. They are also in close proximity to the Canal as well as the trails on Roosevelt Island.

Didn't seem to stop the athletes under Gags or Helmer.
It's not like the trails suddenly disappeared from DC in the past 10 years.
And they actually ADDED a track.
