hey folks
here's my predicament
i have been running about two years
this year i decided to try to run a marathon..
i used the hal higdon training method for novices..
up to lsr of 18 miles i felt great - very fit - no problems
the week after the 18 mile run i developed knee pain..
tried running but it was too painful..
so i missed two weeks f training..
decided i really needed to do 20 miles at that point so ran 5miles, then 10 miles the tried 20 but felt really bad after 17.5 so had to stop.. to be honest my leg still felt bad..
after that 17.5 my knee was really hurt for another week..
i had all but abandoned the marathon.. but the other day i felt my knee totally getting better.. it pretty much feels new..
i ran 5 miles today and felt a little less fit, but not too much.. and now i'm really thinking of trying marathon next monday but not worrying about time or anything just trying to enjoy the day..
could any of you experienced runners give me advice? am i mental.. i feel like i put in nearly four months of training and don't want it to go to waste..
it's the dublin marathon by the way
thanks for your time
