Irony in your post is that Solinsky offers far more excuses than Rupp.
Farah to run 12:50.xx and destroy both CS and Rupp. Best British 5k season ever and slightly better than the American season.
I expect that message won't be very popular here.
rupp might dip under 13 (1259ish) but unless Sol has an off day he won't beat him
Perhaps not as popular, but at least you as a foreigner are not arrogant enough to bash Rupp - only we Americans are retarded enough to bash our own, especially at the abusive and consistent rate we do it at! Way to support your own America!
Track and Field is a small enough and unpopular enough sport and it amazes me how we are not decent enough to even support all of our runners and athletes? Unbelievable!
By the way, I am qualified to write this stuff because I started this thread!!
Rupp 12:55:01 7th
Solinsky 12:55:32 8th
Likely their times will make most runners from past decades look like HS runners. If we have five guys go sub 13 in about a year, then we need to start asking why those lazy ass 1980's runners thought that a 13:25 5K was good time.
I like Farah, and hope he goes well under 13, but better than the American season? If Rupp manages to go under that would 3 American's under 13 this season to 1 for your team. Last I looked, 3 is better than 1.

It is pretty clear the Rupp is in sub-13 shape. But I think it is a stretch to say that he is ready to set the AR. His personal domestique bought and paid for by Nike, Webb, will make sure that he is ready.
solinksy will take by the balls @ 4km and close in 2:24. he will run 12:49 and finish 2nd or 3rd...be outkicked by 1-2 east africans
rupp will be there at 4km (back of pack) ...tries to close like dathan in 2009 but gets dropped and runs somewhere between 12:58 to 13:02...depends if the east africans let him run unimpeded...finishes 8th.
I don't quite understand why people are predicting Rupp to beat Solinsky, let alone set a new AR. If I remember correctly, Solinsky absolutely smoked Rupp in the 10k (easily Rupp's better distance), and since then there have been no signs of Solinsky slowing down.
I think Solinsky runs in the 12:55 range again, and Rupp just misses breaking 13 (13:00.4 or something like that).
It would be pretty amazing if we had two born and bred Americans go sub 13 in the same race. No offense to Lagat.
I think that Solinsky will go about 12:54 or 12:55 again, and Rupp about 12:58-12:59.

finally a bit of sense creeping in here. As mentioned on another thread I don't think Rupp has displayed the short distance credentials that would make him a lock for sub 13.
I think a 13.03-13.08 result is very likely for Rupp. I also think the chances of the race going low 12.50s again (already alot of races like that this year) is low. I hope for the Brits sake I am wrong on this.
Solinsky 12:57.95
Rupp 13:02.86
Probably a dumb question but what is the date of this race?
I'm not suggesting Rupp will beat Solinsky, but Salazar has a very good track record of helping Rupp peak at the right time. Now again i'm not saying it means Solinsky doesn't still have a peak coming. Just saying what they've done already is not neccesarily indicative of what they will do at season end. History shows Rupp throws down at his best near the end of his season.
Either way i'm excited to see how they both do. People should be thrilled we have so many runners on the verge of world class, instead we beat them down.

How dare you ask a question like that.
