Should he be able to stay out of trouble we all know Rupp goes under 13:00 minutes, especially since this is the meet he has been peaking for all year, as stated in his Flotrack interview. Question is does CS finish ahead of him and do either of them crack the 12:55 barrier to set a new AR?
I predict Rupp in 12:54 to become the new AR and a tired CS finishing in 13:03 - Rupp smokes one!!

Of course that not what I want to see. Hopefully Galen goes sub-13 and Chris makes the 5k AR an actual AMERICAN record again.

These races are almost assured to be fast and most commonly have pacers. With favourable weather conditions this will likely be another sub-13:00 event!
Would be great to see Rupp break 13 and join Lagat, Solinsky, Ritz, Teg in the current/active sub-13 crew.
What's crazy is a year ago leading up to this meet, Lagat had run 12:59, and people thought Teg might break 13 soon. Now look at US 5K'ing.
This event is stacked.
11 have broken 13, 3 have a PR at 13:00.xx, Rupp, Farah and Thompson are having great years and are three of the slowest in the field at 13:10, 13:11 and 13:06.
The 5000 is still wide open for the championship so this could be a fast one.
My instinct is to predict Rupp will run 13:00-13:05 and Solinsky will run in the 12:52-12:56. Solinsky seemed to be on a higher level than Rupp in their last race before Rupp fell. He ran comfortably at the front, and never let the leaders get any ground on him. Rupp seemed to be dropping off and coming back because he can't hang at that pace unless it is even. That doesn't bode well for the final two laps when they'll shift pace again.

Hey thanks Truth Sayer for posting the names and times. Also add Moses Masai who has 12:50 best and Moses Kipsiro has a best of 13:00.xx.
Notice the start list includes: 12 Kenyans, 3 Ethiopians, 1 Ugandan, 2 Brits and 2 Americans. Last year only Ritz, so we've improved 100%!
Bethwell has been pacing through 2k this season.
Even the Brits are making moves. This has been a great season for the 5k. Guys are running fast off of really decent rabbits. I believe the Gateshead meet had a lot of wind but besides that race they have all been closing around 2:31 for the final 1k.
Solinsky runs 12:55 again to show he's the next Bob Kennedy in terms of consistency, but no 5K AR.
Hoping Rupp to slip under 13, great end to a great season.
As Rupp stated in his post race interview, he was feeling good and a 2:30 last K would have put him sub 13:00 and probaly close to CS!
I think the top American distance runners have the ability to run fast, but I think more importantly they're just going to compete as best as they can regardless of the pace. It could be a slow pace but I bet CS and GR both finish in the top 8. If it's a fast pace, I still think the same will happen, both CS and GR in the top 8.
Solinsky has run 26:59, 12:56, 13:08, 12:55 this season but I wonder how much he has left in the tank. I don't foresee him dipping into the low 12:50's. I think Rupp can stay pretty close to Solinsky's heels, but I'd still say Solinsky ends up with a 3-5 second advantage over Rupp.

Rupp trips over his big ego on his way to the starting line and gets a DNS. Then he will do a workout on the warmup track which will be 20x1000's at 3k pace and everything will be okay.

I'm predicting Solinsky is either a good bit faster (like 3 or 4 seconds) or a good bit slower (low 13's). Rupp being the wimpy girl he is will probably drop out again or run a 13:10 and we will be forced to listen to the fanboys making excuses for him about how he is in 12:48 and 26:40 shape but just hasn't gotten the right circumstances or some other bullshit. Rupp will never be competetive on the world stage and Solinsky is far better as we have seen in every one of their races this year.
