Jon Clemens was just appointed to the head xc coaching position at William and Mary. Several Columbia runners had strong connections to him, and apparently are thinking of following him to WM. Thoughts?

Former Navy guy, Jon Clemens?
If so, he was (and probably still is) as good dude.
Great pick! I know Clemens has been itching to get into a head coaching job for a while and W&M and did a great job as assistant at Columbia. It'll be great to see what he can do in a head coaching spot.
Having run with Jon and knowing him as a person and athlete and coach, he's an outstanding pick for my Alma Mater - I'll be glad to see what he brings to the show in Williamsburg.
this is not confirmed. w&m is talking to several qualified individuals to fill the position.
does anyone know what kind of coach clemens is with regards to his training philosophy? Is he a high mileage type like the WM guys are used to?
Good question. At Columbia he was mainly responisble for recruiting. He didn't actually write any of the workouts or have a group. Did a great job recruiting though.
Does anyone know what happened to Clemens. Is he coaching somewhere?
Jon is now in the FBI academy. He will be still be living on the west coast.. I believe he is continuing to coach on the side although I'm sure it took a back seat to his new day job.
Jon was in San Diego and coaching some good local San Diego runners last year. I have not seen him at any local races this year, but I believe he still is coaching a few good local runners here.
