I have a slight fever of 99.1, generally feel terrible...should i go out for a super-easy 3 mile jog? I think I'm going to but if i do, no faster than 9min pace.

Man the f*** up. You can nearly walk 9 minute pace.
Just run baby
i could go out and run 10 miles probably, im not trying to be a p*ssy, but im trying to do whats in my best interest over the long haul. havent missed a day of running in 4-5 months

Some elites occasionally run 9 min pace. I'll admit It's hard to go much slower than this...running sub 7 pace everyday is probably a bad idea unless you're a fast guy and you do no more than 60mpw.

I mean to say that running sub 7 pace everyday is probably a bad idea unless you're a fast guy and/or you do no more than 60mpw. If you have one of those two (fast guy OR <60mpw you're probably OK).
Take a day off. If you're sick, no need to get any more.
Besides one or two days off once in a while won't hrut.
i just did it. 3 mile run at 2AM EST out on the lonely streets. no idea what my pace was. well, i went slow enough that i dont think i did any harm in getting better from the Badcold/Slightfever but probably the only good that came out of it is a slight endorphin rush to keep me sane
That's not a slight fever. A fever is generally ~38 degrees C or 100.3 F.
99.1 is "I drank some coffee an hour ago."
Sorry, I just get frustrated when people come into a doctor's office complaining of a fever when their temp is less than half a degree above an oft-quoted average temp among the population, and insist they get antibiotics.
/rant.
Well what would you call what I have? on this particular thermometer, my temp is usually around 96-97. I slept 14+ hours today and woke up at 1AM EST. I get occasional chills followed by sweats like I need to open up a window. And My throat is so stuffy with flem and crap that when I swallow I cant get my ears to pop (if that makes any sense). No, I didnt drink any coffee. This was just now at 1AM after having just slept for ~14 hours.
did i ever insist i get antiobiotics? nope. either way suck a d*ck man. dont question my toughness. i have been doing 80mpw. i cccooouullllddd go out NOW and run 20 miles at like 7-8 min pace at 2AM EST in the streets of Boston if my life depended on it but obviously such an effort is not within my best interest if I'm just trying to maintain some fitness while I'm feeling terrible for 2-3days...that being said im pretty sure ill be back to normal in 2-3 days - i just wasnt sure if i should try to do a shakeout run even though im feeling like total sh*t or take the day off entirely.

what i mean by that is obviously such a stress is not within my interests at this point since it could cause further setback if my system is already weakened. if u dont at least semi-agree with that then you're a dumb*ss. obviously now is not the time for me to be hammering if i dont have to (no immediate important races coming up)
Why are you even asking this question? You know the answer. This is the epitome of compulsive/neurotic distance runner behavior.
Why the f*** would you go out for a three mile run when your temp is running 3 degrees above normal (on that thermometer), you have chills and night sweats, and were so exhausted by whatever you have that you slept 14 straight hours? And you're congested, too? Is this even a question? Rest, man.
So you´re not running to become a better runner, but to prove your toughness? "Look, my cock is bigger than yours!"

if u read above another idiot accused me of this so in defense i told him i cccoouuulllddd go out there and run 20-30 miles but obviously that's not a very smart thing to do if you're sick
are u the idiot?\
lot of obnoxious teenagers on LR so first thing anybody does when i ask a question is say i need to man up. so i defend myself in saying that my toughness & commitment to the sport is not the issue only to get bashed again by another obnoxious teenager on LRsaying im not running to become a better runner but to:

i made it pretty clear that anything other than light running not within my best interest at this point because yes, im running to get faster in the long run.
Never run with a fever. Don't turn 1 day off into 1 week off.
5/10
What I usually do if I have a fever is to just go for a 10-15 min Easy easy easy jog. It's more to preserve my streak but I do feel better afterwards and feel it helps in my recovery. If you have a Tmill at home like I do just set it for 6mph and just plod for those 10-15 min. Feel better.
So, you're 70-80 miles weeks, fit enough that 20 miles @ 7min pace, but you decided that 3miles at 9min pace is not considered a day off? 3 miles is not going to make any difference in maintaining your fitness.
dude.. do NOT run
