any predictions? There seems to be more than 5 really good teams.

I'm gonna go out on a limb and pick north central men for the win.
second N central
They should really think about watering that region down a little. It currently has 5 teams in the top 10 of the national rankings and has both North Central and UW Lacrosse. That region gets 5 teams in virtually every year. I know its tough to make a perfect system, but it seems like too many good teams get left out from that region. However, it does make for a great regional race.
Women:
1. Calvin
2. WashU
I predict....
1)North Central
2)La Crosse
3)Stevens Point
4) Oshkosh
5) Platteville
Calvin is actually not in the Midwest Region, but nonetheless, I think they're the favorite for the National title. They won the Oshkosh meet without one of their top runners, Jess Koster.
As far as the top teams for women in the Midwest Region, you'd have to figure:
- UW-Eau Claire
- UW-La Crosse
- Wash U
those seem to be the locks in my mind, and then probably UW-Oshkosh and University of Chicago for 4-5, but Wheaton, Illinois Wesleyan, and North Central looked strong this past weekend as well.
I figure the top women are probably:
- Scherer (St. Norbert)
- O'Grady (Carroll U)
- Roberts (UW-Stevens Point
- Beyer (Monmouth)
- Adams (Augustana)
then I think from there it will depend which teams qualify for Nats and which don't!
As for the men, North Central will not only win the Midwest Region but they'll win the National title pretty handily from the looks of results I've seen so far this season. La Crosse will probably be 2nd so that will be a pretty nice 1-2 punch representation for the Midwest Region!
Top men not on teams that will qualify?
No Ayla in your top 5 ladies?
no ayla, one of the favorites to win the national title, and no surtees, returning 5th place finisher from regionals last year who got 3rd in outdoor 10k and 6th in the 5k?
I was putting the top finishers whose team don't have a shot at making it to Nationals... guess I should have clarified that. The true top finishers if you include even those whose team should qualify would go something like this, IMO:
-Mitchell
-Scherer
- O'Grady
- Surtees
- Roberts
- Beyer
- Adams
- Ohman (U of C)
- Hooks (N. Central)
- Lawton (U of C)
- Devitt (IWU)
No results from lawton since sept. 18 at IL intercollegiates. what's up w/that? almost a month ago
Augustana beat both Platteville and Oshkosh despite not running their number two (Wisser)...im not sure how you can predict them to finish out of the top 5. Also, Whitewater looked very good at Oshkosh and could be dark horse at regionals...maybe
oh, maybe Lawton's injured. I didn't even notice that. Seems like U of Chicago is still running well despite missing her though??
Anybody think UW-Eau Claire or UW-Lax on the women's side is strong enough to challenge Calvin at Nationals?
And what about North Central for the men? Pretty much unanimous they're gonna win it?
Lawton is being held out for now with a calf injury. She may return during the championships. Noticeable is Rachel Ohman at Oshkosh finishing in the top 10.
I'm fairly biased, but I don't think it's out of the question that Eau Claire could challenge Calvin. Calvin's times at Oshkosh are faster than Eau Claire's at Drews, but while La Crosse's course is fast, Lake Breeze is ridiculous.
Also, Calvin's 25 second 1-5 spread is impressive, but Eau Claire had a 4 second spread for their 1-4 and 22 for their 1-5.
We shall see.
it looks like wash u women's number two runner had an off day. if she's healthy, she could help them win nationals, easily.
Washu definitely has a shot at the national title, but I don't think it will be easy for anyone.

She was tempoing the race...coming back from an injury. She ran the entire race with the teammate she finished right next to.
well in that case they'll definitely win.
LAX's Dallas Vincent and Paul Moran have been their 4th/5th guys for a lot of the season, right? If they run like the national caliber runners everyone knows they are, isn't it possible that LAX takes NCC, if not at Regionals maybe at NCAAs? We all know NCC has a sick top 8 but it only takes 5 to win...
