I vote for Pat Boone!
He really rocked out doing Tutti Frutti back in the day and got no props because he knocked-up Sandra Dee.

When did Pat Boone knock up Sandra Dee?
Peter Frampton. Only one album, but off the charts. Ted Nugent was a bad ass too.
Rod Stewart
Peter Frampton had several solo albums before "Comes Alive" and at least one afterward.
I think Ryan Adams was actually overexposed in his time, just not that influential.
My nominations of bands and performers, probably not on their way to the Hall of Fame:
Harry Nilson
The Jam (in the US)
They Might Be Giants
Grahm Parker
the golden palominos
Ronnie James Dio.
End of discussion.
Out.
Ah, The Man on the Sillll-ver Mounnn-tain. Yes!!
Derek Trucks
Steve Albini
i know this will sound real lame but how about Prince, I think he is very underrated for his skills with the guitar...
Davy Knowles from Back Door Slam.
Incredible guitarist and possibly an even better voice- also one of the very few bands allowed to do an encore at very strictly timed Bonaroo Festival...
A few for the discussion (some you have heard and some you haven't):
--Paul Westerberg and/or The Replacements. Granted, they are well-respected in their own small circle but the average letsrun idiot is not at all familiar with their stellar career.
--The Accelerators. A Raleigh Band that should have been the Georgia Satellites. Unreal how good they were.
--Buffalo Tom. How the hell did these guys never make it?
Dee Snyder
Pat Travers.
They played his live version of "boom boom out go the lights" a bit on the radio for a while but he really was/is much better than that.
I've always been surprised by people who claim Iggy Pop to be great. It seems to be more of a "I know who Iggy Pop is, therefore he is good" thing; When in reality - his singing is awful, his lyrics are meaningless, and the music composed by his band was nothing special at all.
