Has been, what "proof" do YOU have for the success of your program?

H.a.d.d is some guy who "Had-A-Day-Dream" about jogging around real slow. He then published his work here and was declared a "genius".
If H.a.d.d. is anyone he is Galloway.
Is it high school exam time or something stateside?
This thread is becoming pretty funny, actually.
Pete,
There are two types of runner on this board. The first is knowledgeable, reads about varied training programs, and adopts the best fit for their particular needs.
The second is what I like to call a "Workout Queen". This runner is generally a high school or college athlete who believes that every run is an opportunity to race. They "win" every Sunday long run. They "win" every repeat on quality days. They "win" the morning easy run. When they train alone, they "beat" their training loop PR from the previous day. With the exception of some rare individuals, they often fail to win races since their legs are always worked from a "winning" week of training.
The kiddies just returned from their winter breaks and probably need to reestablish their online personas.
LOL!
Classic!
Dear H.a.d.d.,
You will never know me, but you changed my life.
I too have a "day dream"
Love always,
Penguin
p.s. now I can run 12 min miles at a HR of 150.
"Proof" and "message board" are almost diametrically opposed. Take your own experience (in which I am sure you have some ideas), synthesize all that you "know" about running from what you have read (Lydiard, Coe, Daniels, Pfitz, etc.), and then measure the posts against these and see what you think. The posts don't need superman behind them... they stand on their own.
In all the years that Lydiard coached, he really didn't have THAT many world class runners. And, before he had one, would you not say that he was (or at least had the tools) to be a great coach?
As people have mentioned, almost all of what Hadd has written here was about developing aerobic fitness, a component that I think he said that he believes too many people overlook.
I went through the same process as you... Who is this Hadd guy, etc? Can I change my training based on something that made sense but is coming from someone I don't know? Well, I have put my best effort because I think it's the real deal. Although it will come off as excuses, my life is not nearly as conducive to training as it was several years ago. Yet, under this Hadd program of "easy" running (and I really wish I were a more consistent runner), I have run almost the same as I did years ago (2:30ish marathon).
I'm more optimistic, though, than I have ever been, and I wish I knew then then what I do now.
That's my stance on it. I'm sure if you want, you can discount any "proof" that's offered. Every coach who has ever been good has been ripped on this board by people who know better. Wetmore, for example, has been bashed for running people into the ground. But wasn't it Wetmore who told a guy (a good one at that) that was looking for Wetmore's coaching to go run a hundred miles a week for a year and then come back to see him? Wouldn't you say that Wetmore is in effect saying, an aerobic base is critical in determining how well you'll eventually run?
But, Wetmore... another know nothing coach who has runners that get injured (sarcastic).
What?
Hadd's approach is a good mix of science and art. He has generously shared his ideas, often telling us that they are nothing new or revolutionary. He is a humble guy.
His Phase II level training is NOT slow running.
Hey Jay, good job hanging on in Tuscon ! Drop me an e-mail, I'd like to catch up and need tech help loading the "Board " onto my school computer.
Well said, JEH.
Let's see ... a guy comes on here and provides bucketloads of advice that is well-stated, easy-to-understand, and largely consistent with what many other great coaches have said. He states right at the outset that his is only one approach to long distance training. He takes the time to answer many, many follow-up questions posed by those who have read his missives.
For whatever reason (maybe due to invective of the some the more childish on this board, or maybe he just doesn't want the masses tracking him down and seeking individualized attention outside the bounds of this forum), he decides to use a nom-de-plume (don't most of us?). To this, Has Been takes great offense, demand the guy's identity, and wants proof of the results of his coaching.
Nice try, Has Been, but you have revealed yourself to be on the wrong side of the maturity line. What Hadd has said is out there. Take it or leave it. But he owes you nothing.
Pend. Here you go.

i dont think so
Yeah Tryon Creek, who does this Hadd guy think he is? The nerve of that guy coming on here and humbly admitting that his is only one approach, and then laying it all out for us including the REASON for doing particular runs. Wejo should ban his ass!
jerk
huh?
exactly
Oh, yeah... I gotcha.. I see what you're sayin'.. uh huh... yep.. Ha Ha Haaaaa
(Can anyone other than "pend" help me understand what the heck he is talking about?)
