I am actually a bit curious to see how Armstrong will do. Probably he will fall of his bike and we will never know what he could have done.

With Lance's experience and facilitation (as his domestique), I just can't see Contador losing.

Are you saying David Walsh, sports editor of the sunday times, probably the biggest paper in britain and very much a broadsheet and NOT a tabloid, is not a respected journalist? You must not live in the UK then, either that or you know nothing about journalism.

I know all about journalism and I dont care what shape and size paper this guys stuff is printed on.
Really, then you'll know all about the laws of libel and how you can't write something false about someone and how all a journalist has is his reputation and how Walsh's is pretty damn impressive when it comes to his past record, how he was one of a small number of journalists who helped expose Irish drug cheat swimmer Michelle Smith against a wave of public backlash who were taken along in the hype of her 3 olympic golds in 1996. You'll know how he shed light on armstrong's long-term relationship with Ferrari, which Armstrong denied hugely before they found proof of it, a man convicted of supplying EPO to several cyclists. Go ahead, believe in the dream, maybe it hurts too much to see the reality.
Actually I do know that Armstrong sued the Sunday Times for accusing him of doping and won.
Respected journalist? Go ahead, dream on.
Are they going to do rug testing on Karpets?
As I understand, they are doing blanket testing so he might get off.

post of the day, amigo
I don't know what the odds are, but I'll take "the field." I expect Lance to perform, and I still think he could ride with anybody in the one-day classics, but the body's ability to RECOVER from one arduous day to the next is dramatically different at age 37 than it is at age 27, particularly considering the scrutiny this guy is under. Then again, it is Lance.

Lance and we will call it, 8 FOR THE AGES!
Lance is nobody's boy as you say, He will ride for himself and even Contador know's it.
Amrstrong would not have come back it he didn't think he could win and he look as if he could...
The route is quite hilly so we will see if Lance can still climb and recover ??
For stage 1 I got:
1. Fabian
2. Wiggins
3. AC
Overall:
1. Contador
2. Menchov (his second grand tour of the season has always his best in the past)
3. Sastre
Contador will win i don't think it will be that close he has a great team to set it up for him only way he losses is if he falls.
Lance Armstrong total toss up with his age

Good call on the stage, but Menchov looked awful! Fabian was absolutely flying like he always does in the TT

Thanks! I was off by a second. I was really surprised with Menchov today. I thought with the climb he would do better, we'll see.
I can't see Menchov improving. I think the Giro has taken to much out of him. Contador is flying and looks unbeatable. I think only a crash or a positive doping test can make him lose at this stage. I think Lance is out of it...
It seems odd to compare the recovery of Lance as a 27 year old to now when he didn't win most of his tours until past that age.
1. Conta
2. Evans
3. Leipheimer
Evans is second (yet again), Contador establishes himself as completely legit, and Leipheimer gets on the podium again.
Armstrong finishes a *dissapointing* fifth.
Who cares, these motherf***ers ride bicycles for a living, a bicycle is nothing but a performance enhancer itself.
What would be more interesting is the same course, but with a 4 wheeler that you have to pedal with all 4 tires flat.
