No, Curtis is the decathlete. You're thinking of his brother, Brad, who runs the 800.
Or...Curtis Beach just ran third at NON in a 150 behind Andrews and another individual...But we could go with your wrong theory if you want.

You really haven't been around Letsrun very long, have you? Otherwise you would've gotten the joke.

That's amazing. No world class decathlete could come close to this. Amazing.

I've been here. Never heard this one.

Surely you haven't missed the Craig/Brad Miller threads/jokes.
Let me break it down here for you guys, thus ruining any chance of you finding it funny anyway.
The OP mistakenly referred to Curtis Beach as Craig Beach. An easy thing to do would be to say "hey, you've got his name wrong, It's Curtis and not Craig." However, since the topic was the name "Craig" and an 800m race, the situation lent itself perfectly to rehashing the old "No, it's Craig's twin brother Brad . . . he runs the 800" joke.
Sigh.

You're clearly just a bumblin idiot.
1) don't care about your inside joke. I am on the boards regularly, and i didn't get it. But I digress...
One thing I want to figure out is; just how good could Curtis Beach be if he went to a multi-event power school like UCLA, AZ State, FL State or Oregon? What if he had a good Mid-D team to train with as well as great field coaches? This is a kid that shattered the HS decathlon records (HS weights & Int'l implements), as well as throwing down 1:50.xx on multiple occasions. He's 46.xx on 400m relay carries as well.
I respect his decision to go to Duke for their academic reputation, but are we potentially missing out on one of the most dominant Decathletes of all time? IF this talent was correctly cultivated, and his technical events (HH, PV, HJ) were improved, this is someone that could destroy world records.
just my .02
curtis is really good. lets hope he stays healthy and humble, and breaks a lot of records.

It's not an inside joke since it was publicly started and used on the boards.
For the record, the joke was funny and Beach is fast. Wonder if he could go sub 1:50 with a few more efforts?
You guys do know that he went 400 in 56.xx in that 1:50.75 400. Don't you? I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned.
actually, he ran 46.xx in the 400, not 56.xx.
1:50 with a negative split in his first major 800 against a stacked field. Pretty amazing, really.

Shawn Wilbourne is a solid coach at Duke (in addition to being a former 8000 point decathlete and NFL defensive back). Beach will do just fine in the multis and will probably keep himself busy in non-multi meets with some sprint/middle distance races.
If it's a joke you have to explain, then it's really not a joke at all.

No, this was a joke that anyone who's paid attention on Letsrun got. It's blatantly obvious to anyone it was meant for. Nice try though.

Riley stops, I have a question for you. Given his 3k and 5k times, what kind of potential do you believe Matthew Tegenkamp has in the 10 kilometer run?
