I hope everyone in that race was running in lane 2 for the last couple miles of the race for her benefit - otherwise, she was.
i'm not sure i get this, so just to clarify: a dozen and a half serious college distance runners show up to the nyu LAST CHANCE meet, i.e. LAST CHANCE to qualify for NCAA's, IC4A's, ECAC's, etc., and an elite runner happens to show up, that means they should move to lane 2???
have you never been a serious competitive runner? or are you just totally lacking in empathy? show the other girls some respect.
So how many times did she have to lap other runners and how many extra metres and seconds would it have added?
I'm guessing without the traffic, it might have be enough difference to move her one more spot up the list, but still behind the top 4 times set by Defar and Dibaba.

is kim smith running world xc? if yes she might do extremly well.
tirunesh dibaba RUMORED to be injured MAY NOT runworld xc.
meseret defar has never run it and is not expected to.
lornah kiplagat said a few months ago she is not running xc anymore.
elvan abeylegesse has run poorly in her 2 world xc races the last being in 2005.
chinese girls most likely will not show up, or if they do will run poor.
russian girls, same as china
usa- no flanagan or goucher = no individual threat.
kenya and ethiopia, will probably fight it out team wise and will have some very good runners, but they are very unlikely to have a t. dibaba or defar in a class by themselfs girls this year. the kenyan and ethiopian women dont have the depth of their male counterparts YET.
i say smith gets 3-5 after linet masai, then yimer and maybe 1-2 others.
if t. dibaba runs i put smith to finish 4-6th.
kim smith has been selected for the nz team to world xc.
