Just got a text from Lesley Higgins (former NCAA runner-up in the mile and most importantly a letsrun.com message board moderator) saying Kim Smith just ran 14:39.89 at the last chance NYU meet at the Armory today in NYC. Lesley was the rabbit in the race and made it 1200m. 2nd place supposedly was nearly 3 minutes behind.
This makes Kim the #4 individual ever all time indoors (Defar, Dibaba, and Adere are ahead of her).
This is the 2nd time Smith has run incredibly fast indoors with little competition. She ran a 14:50 3 years ago in Boston winning by nearly two minutes. More on that here:

And I now have results to prove it:

I hope everyone in that race was running in lane 2 for the last couple miles of the race for her benefit - otherwise, she was.
-
Was she faster than the men's winner?
-
Shouldn't the rabbit be in the results as a DNF?
-
Apparently Kim went through 3000 meters in 8:48.6, which is another Armory record
-
I have just put up David Monti's recap of the race as well. It can be found here:

So your telling me that the NCAA runner up in the mile could only hang with smith for 1200 meters of a 5k? She was only running about 70's... That's a whack NCAA runner up, next time kim should get somebody who is a runner to rabbit her, she could run 1430!!! Seriously, a rabbit through 1200 meters in a 5k is like someone dragging you through 145 meters of a 800. I really hope that clown doesn't think she helped in any way whatsoever. Maybe kim smith was so confused at the lame attempt to rabbit her race that it took her mind off the pain for a bit...

I often wonder why Kim never beats Shalane...
-
I often wonder why she never runs well at the end of outdoors. I guess the answer is indoors. Indoors should not be a season.

Often I wonder why innocent threads/posts get deleted. Lesley, please answer me, why are innocent posts/threads deleted? -

What makes you think Shalane can't run that fast? -
Why don't you wait until you know the full story before sounding off like a jackass?
From Monti's account:
Smith had pacemaking assistance by the New York Athletic Clubs's Lesley Higgins for the early stages of the race. Higgins took her through the first 1000m in 2:57.3, keeping her from going out too quickly.
"Definitely," said Smith when asked if Higgins's pacing helped her stay within herself. "Mostly to get the pace right."

haha you just made that guy feel like an ass and look like a duuche

That runnerup finish in the mile was 8 years ago. Lesley works full time in New York and focuses on the 3K and up, last year making the finals of the US Olympic 3000m steeplechase.

The Rabbits job was actually to slow her down and hold her back from going too fast.
The lapped runners stayed in lane as as per Kim's request. The worst is when there is confusion and someone moves out at the wrong time and cuts off the leader. Kim preferred having to go around them. She ran a lot further than 5K that's for sure. -
Ahh, that's the same girl that over-moderates all the Goucher stuff. You need to get a handle on her.

Kim Smith has buns? -
why is this a 'last chance' meet if barely anyone is even qualifying for NCAAs??
-
It's a Division 3 meet.

Actually it had runners from all divisions, as well as pros.
The NYU men ran something like 9:57 in the DMR, which should have qualified them for DIII Nationals pretty easily. Jesse Schneider ran 14:38, which should have him on the bubble. Et cetera.
