I have been running over 80 miles a week up to as much as 102 miles for 4 months now. I have a big 8k in six weeks and I would like to know how to taper for that race. I run about 9 to 11 miles in the morning an 5 in the afternoon 5 times a week with no races an four times a week when i have a race. should i start running 4 in the afternoon an decrease as the weeks go by with the second workout? the first workout will taper off thanks to my coach but the second one is up tome essentially. i feel pretty strong but my speedwork could be better so should i eliminate the second workout altogether after a couple of weeks? I just started experimenting with high mileage so I need some guidance on how to taper. by the way... jorge will be ncaa cross country champion I guarentee it!
