Zeus!
Update for everyone. The meet has been delayed for two hours due to rain & lightning.
Were stuck in a bus in the mount sac parking lot and its dumping outside and the lightening is still striking.
Delayed three hours now!
Is there such a thing as a 3/7 decathlon? Are there provisions in the rules for not being able to complete the Day 1 events?
Last week it was a hundred friggin' degrees out here! Teh guys 10K is going to go off (if it does) darn near 11:30p! Feel sorry for the East Coasters that might be doubling.
It looks like they're back at it now.
anyone having trouble with the results? I can get the last completed event to show up but not if I click on an individual event....which sucks.
Try hitting refresh after clicking on the event results. You may have the results not available page cached.
where the heck are the 10k results!!!!!!!!
1 kirwa, 2 medigovic, 3 hamilton, 4 polk, 5 abiline
Does anybody know why they have prelims for the steeple and 5k if only like 4 guys aren't gonna qualify for finals? It just doesn't make sense to me, running a final with 16 people instead of 12 wouldn't really change much of anything in races that long. In addition, the races would be more competitive and potentially produce faster times because more people would be fresh. I could understand having prelims if like 25 people qualified for nats, but with around 16, what's the point? And it's not like the NCAA is willing to pay for more entries in these events to actually make the prelims worth it.
I don't know why they run prelims in those races. I think NCAA rules mandate prelims if there are more than 19, but leave it up to the NCAA committee/meet director if there are less. Today was a great example to have canned the prelims. Eliminating the 3k, men's steeple, and women's steeple prelims would have put the 10k's about two hours earlier. It would not have impacted recovery times negatively for any 400m hurdler (i don't think any were doubling back from the 100m). It wouldn't have hurt any of the 10k runners.
Oh well...
