How fast could Lance have run the marathon if he had transitioned straight from biking to running without getting fat and developing a taste for basketball shorts?

I read in the last edition of RW (Yeah, I read it. Bite me.) that his goal for Boston was mid 2: 40's. Exactly what he hit. His goal for his next NY Marathon is 2:30.
He's really not running that much. His coach said Lance still likes to bike, so he does 2 hour mountain bike rides and some other rides. His long runs are alternated with long rides.
He'll probably start focusing more on running now that he has a 2:30 goal. If he gets in the right midset to train hard, he could run a 2:20 next year.

Are you sure about that? I suggest you check the results again.
OK, so he missed it by a couple of minutes. Big whoopidee dee doo.

Your choice of words in describing how close he came ("exactly what he hit") show that you clearly thought he ran in the mid 2:40's, you silly Lance-lover.
p.s. He's not going to run 2:30, and your wet dream of 2:20 makes it clear you are truly naive.
if he loses about 20 pounds of muscle, he might be able to go sub 2:40
If he loses any more weight, he runs the risk of Matthew McConaughey hitting on him. Naked. With bongo drums.

Goal of 2:46-2:47 and he runs 2:50. Pretty damn close. Especially for a novice marathoner like him who did a lot of training on his bike.
I have a feeling Lance knows a lot more about reaching his goals than you do. I also have a feeling he sort of knows a little about training to reach them and the hard work that goes along with it.
Come back after his NY Marathon and I promise you he'll come within 2-3 minutes of 2:30.
By the way, jealousy isn't very becoming on you. You should do something about that.
running in loser short shorts doesn't make you faster

Lance's two step program for underachieving in the marathon:
1) Buy basketball shorts.
2) Get fat.
It will all depend on whether he decides to truly commit to the running program. Right now, it seems as if he likes the idea of running a much faster marathon, but isn't necessarily willing to change his lifestyle drastically to make that happen. As he's said before, he's enjoying eating and drinking whatever he wants now...and he's busy schedule doesn't allow for a lot of training/long runs. If he would commit, it would be very interesting.
I had a strange dream last night where I might have been an accomplice to Lance and his girlfriend killing someone. It was strange, and I know I was frightened for my life in the dream.
nothing you have said makes any sense.... Lance is not that fast. I like him but he isnt a runner. Nor will he ever run a 2:30 marathon. the 2:20 is just stupid of you to say, so im not even going to mention that. 2:40 would be nice one day but unlikely. Just cause he ran under 2:50 doesnt mean he will continue to drop his time. In order to make thoes kinds of time drops you have to train at a very high level for a very long time.. Lance is retired and no longer wants to do that. All of his marathon times are going to be about 2:46-2:50 at best.
You just described why he is fast...the guy probably has very little motivation to run a fast marathon and even less to train for one (what does he have to prove anymore?)yet somehow after a career spent on the bike, he goes out after running 30-40 mile weeks and rips a 2:46 at his agei don't know about you, but 2:46 with limited training is pretty effing fast
This particular DRUG CHEAT can run as fast as he desires ... with more drugs (like his famous 7 wins) he could break 2:20
How is it that for some people their 2 cents is somehow worth far less?

prove it.
other shut the hell up.
otherwise shut the hell up.
I can't prove that if he took his drugs again he would break 2:20.
Only Lance can prove that.
