Fam = Modern Day Pre
Fam = Modern Day Pre
Webb/Hall = Pre.
Actually both are much faster.

lets see
1500 pre 338, hall 342 advantage pre
3k pre 742, hall 756 advantage pre.
5k pre 13.22, hall 13.16 advantage hall
mile pre 354, hall 405 advamtage pre
10k pre 27.43, hall 28.07 advantage pre.
hall should improve, but hall has already lived 2 years longer than pre did.
Webb is faster than Pre at every distance.
Than again Pre was running when the Godfather was playing in theaters.
webb has run faster than pre in all events from 800 to 10k, but pre got higher on the all time list than webb.
I don't get how Fam in the modern day Pre. Explain?
Fam is merely a very good runner. He is not in the class of Webb, Hall, or Pre. Fam is certainly one of the better US steeplechase runners right now.
he's talking about the attitude.
i'm sure the OP is talking in terms of what he brings to the sport, personality, and excitement wise. not just talent.
pre was way more cocky than fam though with a bigger ego.
fam is certainly fun to watch.
"who cares about a meet record when you can get people excited about track?" -fam
Fam = Modern day Fam.
Nothing more. Nothing less.

Unless Fam starts doing cartwheels after races or some other type of "stunt," people are not going to get excited about track. That's the only way track going to make Sportscenter. I don't really care about meet records, but national records and placing at worlds will definitely get people excited. I don't know, it kind of seems like a cop out. Kinda like Fam knows he can't run the kind of times needed to drop people's jaws, so he has to be a "show" of sorts. At least in Pre's time he was the top runner and he put on the best show.
hall has already lived 2 years longer than pre did.
which makes hall better than Pre...
Pre won, thats what makes him special, people are going to continue to get faster and faster, but I dont know if we will ever see someone dominate the NCAA and US track like that again
Hall is the same age as Pre when he died.

Let Fam be Fam
Let Hall be Hall
Let Diego be Diego x 2
And shit man ...
Let Pre be Pre ...
You can't accurately compare anyone today with
someone from 30 years ago unless your measure
on Victories. Measuring and comparing on times
is not cool. IE ... Pre dominated the NCAA's and
US distance running back in the day. Chances are
that he would rise to that same level of domination
today ... because he was Pre and was going to break
the National High School 2 Mile record regardless;
if it has been 8:31 ... he would have run 8:29.
God only knows what he would have done on the
world scene had he lived; but my guess is that he
would have continued to rise to the occasion, beat
Viren in Mawntreawl and broken at least the 5k
World's Record.
Let Fam continue to grow into who he is without putting
the unrealistic expectations on him to be someone who
he is not.
For some reason we are always trying to resurrect someone
else's career into a present day growing star; IE "He is the
NEXT ONE" ... referring to Sid the Kid's evolution into Wayne
Gretzky. Its much more fun to watch todays budding athletic
stars become who they are trying to become as they grow into
and establish their own character ... whoever and whatever
that might be.

FWIW, Hall is 25 1/2. Pre died at 24.

Wow, that's really interesting. Who'd have thought that Pre's PRs are so much better than Hall's, save of course the marathon. There is a lot of pre-bashing here, but it's pretty amazing to think that he would still be a serious contender in the trials even today, in this age of scientific training and PEDs.
