Husker Du, no comparison.
I have to call Replacements...no comparison ;)
Replacements...this one is not even close
Replacements?
Yea! College radio pop! Yea!
Placemats!
another vote for the mats.
Definitely the mats.
But I'll give Bob Mould the nod over Westerberg.
The Replacements, but Husker Du is great.
mats over husker du (slightly) but mould over westerberg in general.

Replacements had one decent pop album, nothing else. Westerberg was a kook, I met and hung out with them after a show. Bob Stinson, who was kind of cool, even boned a party-ho friend of mine. Bet he got crabs, everyone else did.
Husker Du was a mid-west-punk classic.
husker du, hands down.
Who the hell cares what kind of people The Replacements were? They were uneven live, to say the least. But they have at least three albums better than anything Husker Du ever did. And Let it Be is among the top, top rock albums ever.
For what?

Greatest thing every in the history of the world. Also, calling the 'placemats "college radio pop" just shows that yr an idiot. Fool, just listen to "Sorry Ma. . ." Shits so ace. Maybe "Don' Tell A Soul" is college radio pop, but damn dude even Westerberg said if he could he would remix the whole record.

oops
another vote for the mats. Let It Be is still my favorite album of all time.
And some of you say Bob Mould over Westerberg? I guess I need to give HD another listen.
husker du is okay and some people love em but the mats are one of the classic groups of rock history
When I was 16 (in 1986), we moved to Minneapolis and a new friend gave me a blank tape that was labeled "Pleased To Meet Me." I had never heard of the 'Mats and had no idea what was on this tape. He told me it would change my life. He certainly wasn't kidding.
I've always hated the credit that the "grunge" movement got for altering the coarse of alternative music. It's such a crock! Nirvana is quite possibly the most overrated band EVER! What Pearl Jam, Soundgarden, and Nirvana were doing in Seattle in 1993 -- Husker Du, Soul Asylum, and the Replacements were doing 10 years prior in Minneapolis.
What a great city for a young music fan to move to!
