You can keep Mayeroff to yourself. Garbage like him and you go well together.

simon sawe was the first american in 30th place with a time of 226.15
Doug,i'm not sure if mbarek hussein ran. he wasn't in the media guide. the commentators where going on about a masters runner, he definitely was east african, but i didn't catch the name. he was, however, off the back pretty quick. i do reacall the comentators talking about some kind of masters record, but i wasn't really paying attention to what they were saying. unfortunately, korean is my third language and still requires full concentration...

ok i'm trash. why? probably because i find your arrogance quite embarrassing as you try to pass yourself off as an authority on everything. your comments are quite humourous, bordering on mentally challenged to say the least. stick to giving race day weather reports as they are the only statements made by you that are accurate.

I just found the results on the KAF site. soory if there are any incorrect spellings as I am translating from Korean. Korean tends to butcher some names in Enlgish...

no results for Mbarek Hussein. The elite list only went 37 deep...
Lee Bong Ju might not be selected as there are a couple of other qualifying races. None of the guys from the Korea Electric Power Company (KEPCO) ran. This would include Korea's top finisher in Osaka. I witnessed him run 15X 1000m in 3 minutes flat with 70 sec recovery the beginning of February in Jeju. Another possible qualifier is currently training in Albuquerque. He has extra incentive as he was told that if he qualifies for Beijing, his US immigration paperwork will be passed. Maybe on an athlete's visa?
A very pleasing day indeed, Ghost.
2.39.59! I was aiming for sub 2.40, so I just squeezed under. I can't give you my exact splits as I pressed my watch too early.
Prior to today's run, the last time I broke 2.40 was way back in 2001. Since then I've been plagued by injuries. So today's run was very sweet indeed.
Monk: Pity you did not keep a record of your splits, but from memory, what were they?
Good run. I predicted you would run around 2:40-2:45, so getting under 2:40 was good. All those lonely training runs on the windy Island are paying off.

Doug,
I think that Sawe was earning a buck or two pacemaking the top ladies. Well there was certainly an African guy escorting the leading females.
Rob
The term "Master" in Korea isn't age related. Instead it refers to anyone who isn't an elite athlete. Dong A incorporates two races: the elite and the masters.
The guy you are thinking of; Donatien Buzango, is a chap from Burundi. He's lived here for 5 years and runs for the WIA club (an affiliate of Hyundai), his pr is 2hrs19, and he finished 10th in Berlin last year.
By the way, where are you based?
Ghost
I managed to download my splits. So without sounding boring here we go.
5k 18.27 10k 37.24 15k 56.51 20k 1.15.41 halfway 1.19.42 25k 1.34 15
30k 1.52.46 35k 2.11.46 40k 2.31.30
As I mentioned in an earlier post, I started my watch too early, so I didn't realize I was going too quick. I hit a dodgy patch btween 35 and 38k. I can't recall all my k spilts because I was too focused on racing hard over the final kilometres. However what pleased me that I held up quite well despite going out too quick; my first 5k was way too fast. And I didn't hit the wall.
Anyway I'm very happy to have gone sub 2.40 in my first marathon as a master. And I'm sure with better pacing and a bit of luck I'll break my pr soon.
Just one more thing. I really must give a big thanks to my friend's wife. She lives in Tucson and only started advising me online about 12 weeks ago. The biggest thing that I got from her programs was a new confidence. I am really indebted to her and hope to maintain a great athlete coach relationship, as she is a fantastic coach.

Hey you bitter old man, why aren't you still at the bath-house in Fukuoka with your highschool boys? Looking for Korean boys now?

read the above posts. of course if you follow the 2 english papers in korea, you would see nothing related to the marathon. koreans in general, aren't interested in sports, however they are huge fans of korea. yes, the translator was off, but that is because the translator has little technical knowledge of the sport. throw in the fact that sammy korir speaks passable english, and you will have problems. go crawl back under your rock in pyeongtaek or where ever you came from. hard for me to say, but mayeroff is spot on with his remarks about you...
ROB, YOU RULE MAN!!!!
I saw this comment after my previous comment about "ghost" and his bath-house boyz in Fukuoka.
Ghost needs a good ass kicking. Pyongtaek is not far from the DMZ, right? maybe we can make a giant slingshot and launch him across the DMZ.
Congrats to you Monk. Fine work.
Can you others limit your feuding to emailing each other?
Thank you and Happy St. Patrick's Day.
Monk:
just going by what the tv commentators were going saying. they briefly mentioned a guy trying for a masters record. he did start with the elites...
i am based in seoul...
Thanks Gonzo.
ghost, the only "treatment" that I need is an opportunity to bash your skull in.
You aren't even man enough to accept a challenge to an honest fistfight.
Maybe your bathhouse boys in Fukuoka will back you up. hahahaha
