The Columbus area competitive running scene is a joke. It is littered with far too many events every weekend with sub-par quality. All the event companies take no pride in their work Run Wild Racing events never start on time, Fat Rabbit Racing never gets results correct, Ultrafit sucks, and the worst of all is Premier Races. I respect that the event managers at Premier want to make a living but they can't expect to be successful producing 5 events every weekend with the biggest having 100 people! If they actually took their time to focus on one quality event instead of 5 small crappy ones, their attendance would be better, along with their credibility in the running community. I participated in a few of their events this year and they are all the same. Show up, get a boring shirt, run, eat a bagel, and go home. There is no style, no flash, no heart, and no excitement. Their only decent event is their Last Chance for Boston run in Dublin, it seems they actually care about that one. I looked at their calendar and they had almost 90 events in 2007. How can you expect anything decent with a schedule like that. If I was a charity or fundraiser there is no way I would hire these guys unless you want your event to have 75 people because they all went to the other events scattered throughout the city.
I am making my New Year's resolution to boycott Premier events. Maybe they will get the hint the running community doesn't want to have that many events, but rather have them mean something. We should not support them if they want to disrespect us with terrible events. We created this monster by attending their events, at least we can do something about it.
