You serious? I went to bed in the second quarter. Nice...crazy day yesterday all around!
I went to bed when they were down 28-14 and figured they'd lose. Wow. They came back. Colt Brennan was 42 of 50 for nearly 500 yds, 5 TD's, no INT's. Pretty impressive. They beat Washington about as good as Ohio State did (in terms of the game, not just the scoreboard).
I really look forward to seeing what Hawaii will do in one of the BCS games. They can really slice and dice a defensive backfield.
Hawaii is the only team that has earned a place in the 'national championship game'. In what other sport do teams with no losses have no chance to win the championship? Either they are DI or they are not. What I hope will happen is that UH will play LSU and womp 'em and, meanwhile, some two loss team (OU? VT?) will be crowned national champion........
Sounds like it was a sweet game. I noticed they won by 7, choosing to kick a PAT on the last TD. Why not go for 2? If Washington had scored again (which they almost did) they could have gone for the win with a 2-pt conversion, or they could be safe and tie with a PAT (most likely), but why give them the option? Conversely, if Hawaii couldn't convert the 2-pt conversion and Washington scores, you basically just gave them the ball game. Too many what-ifs. This is why I ran cross country. Still, I like seeing ballsy coaches who go for 2. It's often the most exciting point they can score in a game.
You wouldn't tie with the PAT. You'd win or lose in overtime.

Are you serious? Assume for simplicity both teams convert every PAT and 50% of two point conversions. If Hawaii goes for 2 and misses, then they automatically lose if Wash scores. If Hawaii converts 2, then there is still a 50% chance of overtime if Wash scores. Assuming both teams have an equal shot of winning in overtime, then Wash wins 5/8 of the games when Hawaii goes for 2 in that situation (given that Wash scores again).
If Hawaii goes for the PAT, both teams win half the time. I realize those are some simplifications, but I think it illustrates why you would NEVER go for 2 when you're up 34-27. You decrease your chances of winning (again, contingent on a Wash touchdown) from 50% to 37.5%.
I meant 34-28, obviously. Typing on little laptops is hard.

I agree with this. Just like in running, you can't tell how good a team is when they win, but you can tell how good they are when they lose.
Hawaii should play OSU in the title game this year. Lsu, Usc, Kansas, Missouri, WVU, Oklahoma, Georgia, and Virginia Tech, all choked away their chance at a title shot.
Hawaii is ranked about where they should be ranked somewhere between 10th and 15th. If LSU played UH's schedule, they'd probably be unbeaten as well. IF, Hawaii were to play LSU in a BCS bowl, they'll receive their first loss of the season.
If Ohio State plays in the Championship game vs. LSU, Georgia, USC, VTech, or Oklahoma, it'll be a repeat of last years game...a lopsided loss. Hawaii deserves a spot ahead of OSU.
I think it should be LSU vs. Oklahoma.
Putting two 2 loss teams in the championship game would be a travesty costing the BCS any credibility they may still have left. If those teams really wanted to play in the title game, THEY SHOULD NOT HAVE LOST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oklahoma vs. LSU = BORING. Hawaii would add a nice change....and probably beat an overrated LSU team that got beat by a suck-arse Arkansas team. i doubt that would have happened to Hawaii.

Congrats to Hawaii. They were sleeping thinking of the national championship game they'll play in the bowls or after. The coaches woke them up. That's fine coaching. Washington played hard and shows the PAC-10 for what is, the top conference in college football. The Huskies made their fans proud. I hope Hawaii goes all the way, wins the bowl game, to get the #1 crow. Go Warriors !
