Some of Liberty’s top track & field athletes, including 2007 NCAA Cross Country Champion Josh McDougal, will make their 2007-08 season debuts at the Liberty Kickoff, Friday and Saturday at the Tolsma Indoor Track Center. Competitors from 22 universities and a number of post-collegiate athletes will be included in the field.

Guys who want to use their peak from XC to get a qualifying time out of the way. Not that McD would have any trouble running a qualifying time in the middle of the season... or that he even "peaked," as he said he ran 115 the week of NCAAs.
I believe he did this last year or the year before as well and ran a 13:52. Pretty good idea if you ask me.
not just a meet for the distance runners. coaches need to get the sprint/hurdles/field guys who have gone months without any meets some early action, and see what they need to work on before January.
2 years ago I think. Last year he was too fied to do much right after NCAAs.
Last year he took a lot of crap for running a 13:37 or so the week before NCAAs to get a last-minute qualifier. He didn't do great in the 5K, but he finished 3rd in the 3K, outkicking Rupp.
