The course in terms of the hills doesn't really bother me. The 180 turns, as well as the timing speedbumps seemed to be slippery.
Apparently the top 2 guys in the half were routed to go long on the parkway near the end when they should have been told to go left.
This race was an organizational disaster.
Don't most races (with traditional championchip timing) put carpeting over the chip sensors to prevent them from being so slippery?
They really destroyed that race, didn't they? I went onto Runners World to see if anyone over there knew anything about the problems with the timing. Those clowns didn't mention it at all. Just a lot of "great race!" and outrage at the no headphone rule.
A link to the marathon results is finally up. And when you click it... you get nothing.
Apparently the whole results section of Active.com is not loading, so maybe there is something broader going on?
FWIW, I got some late email splits on runners in Philly at "30K", but the times seem to make more sense as 20-mile.
It probably was 20 miles. the only chip-mats were at start, 10k, half-marathon, 20 miles, and finish.
Previous to the race I had read that there would be 5k marks as well so people could note their kilometer 5k progression. They spray painted in very small yellow the 5k marks along the road. The only kilometer point with a mat may have been 10k. The 30k had no mat.
Yeah, someone owes Koborki 2 grand.
Hey everyone,
I would agree that the race was very close to disastrous.
I went to college in Philly, so I was hoping for a nice homecoming. I was waiting for something serious to go wrong. I agree with most of the other posters that it was a bunch of little things: the expo, the late start, slippery timing stations, no gel at 18 or 22 even though they said they would, 1/2 and full races finishing at the same place, messed up splits, etc...
I was in the top ten and can give approximate top 7 times:
1 2:25 ish
2 around there I guess
3 2:27 mid - 2:28 low
4 2:28 high - 2:29 low
5 2:28 high - 2:29 low
6 2:30 low
7 2:30 mid
Results linked above for full marathon.

The online results are very frustrating. It seems to come and go when I check it, but so far, no results for Bib 698 for the marathon. The "good news" is that I was well off my BQ time, so not getting an official time is not that big of a deal, but very frustrating. I did receive one "30K" time on my cell phone, but no other updates. Good job to all that finished especially those of you in the top 25!

many in the Philly running community want elite racing to take over this race as they have done with the Philly Distance Run in September...and more and more this seems like a great idea. Since Elite Racing has come in to the Distance Classic the race has only been getting better and better (faster as well) this race could use a better management company to handle things like course management, expo, etc. Not sure if it will happen, but this race needs a shot in the arm.
Yeah, I like running in a race put on by Elite Racing. I've checked all over the results (even checking other races to see if my time ended up over there), but no luck. I fired off an email to the race directors, but really do not expect to receive an answer. Hopefully, this did not happen to too many others, especially those that made their BQ time. I'll probably look for a different marathon to try to BQ in the future, given this experience.
Wow, this is just brilliant: I'm listed (bib # 96) for both the full and half, with my "half" times, both gun and chip, 1 second slower than my full times. Is anyone else from the full showing up in the half too?
