Well, you can sign up to track people at this link:
http://www.doitsports.com/results/MSG-signup.tcl?sub_event_id=761
But I signed up for 8 people and haven't gotten a single update, and unless I'm mistaken about the start time they should have been running for an hour already. So I'm not sure whether it's working.
Oops, never mind, looks like they took the link down. Guess we're out of luck.
I signed up the other day but have yet to get an update (e-mail). Has anyone received an update?
Nevermind I just received them.
yea, these updates suck, the one i got didnt really make sense even...and you figure they should give one at the half pt, which has passed for my dad im assuming and nothing
I got updates at the half, but for only three of the people I'm tracking, and not for one guy who definitely should have been ahead of the ones I got. I'm sure they could just be missing people's chips - but I would have thought we'd get more than just the half.
Oops...I didn't sign up in advance. Does it tell you who is leading? (interested in the females)
Nope, only tells you about the people you signed up to track. Kind of strange that they don't have live updates anywhere, at least not that I can find...
i couldn't find any live updates like on a website or live coverage by a local news station.
i did sign up ahead of time for the split email/text msg, for my friend who is running and i only received an update when he crossed the half. i was expecting a 10k split or something also, but not sure if they were supposed to do that or not.
There are some results up but the times are screwy - the half marathon results look right.
Anybody have results?
Did any of you who are tracking runners get finish e-mails? I can't believe that all of my people DNF'd, and they should have been done for well over an hour by now.
The results page isn't loading for me right now - which maybe (hopefully) is a sign that they're updating it?
I just got back from the marathon. I finished in the top 20 and my fiancee tried tracking me and it sounded like the timing was all messed up. The finish line clock was roughly accurate, although I think it was about 5 seconds faster than what was on my watch.
We started 15 minutes late so that may be why the timing was messed up. The starter gave us essentially no warning commands prior to the start and just fired the horn.
The new course is tougher. They threw in a hill loop just passed half-way that lasted about 1 mile. The decline was pretty steep. The winds were an annoyance but nothing more and the rain only was a drizzle for parts of the race.
I saw two kenyans duking it out way up front, so I assume that they took the first two spots.
Temut, good job. I was the guy in yellow going backwards for the last 2 miles.
The timing/chip/runner tracking for this race was abysmal. In all honesty it was a very unorganized affair. If the course wasn't so damn good with awesome weather, I probably wouldn't run it again.
I would say anyone who is tracking people fear not, they probably didn't drop.
Jonze,
Sorry it didn't go well those last couple of miles. You looked great at the turn around.
I have to agree that the event was disorganized which caught me by surprise since I had the greatest marathon experience ever in '05. Upon arrival to the event, I assumed we would be able to stay in the heated tent, but apparently with the addition of the half-marathon, people were getting greedy with the food BEFORE the race last year and ate all the food before they even ran. So this year we were not allowed into the tent, so I sat around for an hour in the cold. Maybe it was my fault for not checking the website for an announcement concerning the tent, but can you guys imagine what would happen if it actually rained like the forecast had predicted?
When the race was over I went to the school bus where I had dropped off my gear. It took 5 people 10 minutes to find my bag while I waited outside the bus freezing.
Overall, I think the event went from great to average which is a shame. Not sure I'll be back even though I ran a PR.
whats the deal with the results? Where can I find full marathon results?
i ran last year and didn't think it was organized very well. waiting in line outside for quite a while to get into the expo day before. start went off late and was all around confusing. they were counting down, like "1 minute to start!". then another 5 minutes went by. some clocks on course were off. half mile split was way off.
i dunno. wasn't impressed.
