The guy hasn't been bigtime known name due to being off and on with injuries, college coaching, etc. But look at his past Kinney Footlockers, World Junior Team XC, A-10 10k champ while at VT, 2004 Olympic Trials 26th place...He is one of those guys that I just have a feeling if he chose to join up in a group and didn't go the route of college coaching so soon and training soley by himself who knows how well known he could have been in on the American running scene.
Don't forget where he came from. He was a Kinney/FL guy coming out of a tiny school in West Virginia, where he was also the kicker for the football team and star of the golf team. And I think he played soccer, too, for that matter. He had a lot of injury problems in college, partly because he was a skinny kid who ran hard every day (learned that running by himself in WV) on a team that (at the time) was big into high mileage. He's back coaching college in his hometown.
