Hello? We're Lions fans here in Detroit. The lions INVENT new ways to lose every week. If they ever start winning it just wouldn't feel right, and I'd have to jump off the bandwagon.
I called my brother yesterday to celebrate the fact that the Lions hadn't lost yet. It was 5 minutes until kickoff.
I suppose it could be worse; I could be a Michigan fan. I'll be moving to Ann Arbor soon but I still cannot bring myself to cheer for the Wolverines.

Running in buffalo sucks. Take down that hyperlink to that site above and disregard it if at all you considered reading it. Distance running in buffalo is nothing more than overweight "runners" and beer tents. We have a marathon that draws abt 800 ppl and we have local 5ks that easily get 1000 though. There is nothing to run on but pavement, it is flat as a pancake and it snows 7 months a year. If you run under 17 mins for a 5k u will win 90 of the road races in the area.

You've never ran the Suburu Challenge 4-mile? That is a great race. While the kenyans weren't there in big numbers this year, there were 3 masters under 20 minutes.
I pity you, brother. Long trail runs in Chesnut Ridge. Easy lunch hour runs along the Erie Basin Marina and Lake Erie. Races with 300+ entrants almost every weekend. Several track clubs open to members of all abilities. 4 seasons of great running. Organized indoor track meets in the winter, an Upstate New York X-C series in the Fall, and road races all spring and summer. Have you seen the results from the Subaru 4 Mile Chase, the Turkey Trot, the Buffalo Marathon? Get a clue, Sport. Buffalo is a wonderful place to live, train and race. Sorry if you don't have either the talent or the will to make it happen up here, but don't blame the area. Just train a little harder and MAYBE you'll place in the Top 25 this Thanksgiving.

yes going through life as the430miler
believe me, that NOT a bad thing.
Are you kidding? I've spent my whole life as a Chicago Cubs fan. Now THERE'S a great tragedy.
Buffalo is a great place to live, and run.

My God, that loss really hurt.
I still love Buffalo and Orchard Park.
and I still love you Todd. How's CA?
is that THEEE woody? I doesn't believe it. Tell Jesse hi.
Being any sort of Buffalo fan is painful. Sabres, Bills, Bulls, w/e you want.
I'd have to say being a Mets, Jets, and Knicks fan is pretty up there in terms of the making you think they can win and hten tearing the carpet out from under your feet.
I mean, how many teams are capable of losing the game where Endy Chavez makes the greatest catch ever*?
honestly when he made that catch i said "holy sh1t we're going to the world series" then in the top of the ninth, bam
and the way this season ended was just painfully drawn out, it was like a race where you just didn't have it and you want to finish but every night is just torturing yourself watching
* up for debate
Is there any greater tragedy than going through life as a Buffalo Bills fan
Being an Alan Webb fan
I've got you all beat. I'm a Cubs fan. So is my father. And grandfather. And great grandfather.
Yes!!! Going thru life a Chicago Cubs fan. They last won the world series in 1909. And no that isn't a typo, it was 99 years ago. A lifetime of heartbreak and tears. Of chokes and curses. I'm not going to delve into the years of '67, '73, '84, '03, or '04 and if your are a Cubs fan you will know what i'm talking about. But yes it is most definitely worse than being a bills fan.
Chestnut Ridge, Dr. O'Keefe, etc., The Turkey Trot, Checkers AC, more road races/week than any other city... Great city for running.

Plus our football team and hockey team are fabulous at failing to attain their sports highest team honor.
I agree that running in Buffalo and the surrounding areas is great. There are plenty of cool places to train if you know where to look. The people are awesome also. But I would also have to agree that racing in Buffalo isn't quite the best. After going away to college and living in the Rochester area for the past few years I have definately realized that 95% of the race sine Buffalo are a joke, although I still love them all!
I still don't see how the Bills lost that game. I've never seen a team lose like that. Romo tossed 5 int's and fumbled once. The 'boys had to get an onside kick AND have their ROOKIE kicker make TWO 53yd field goals. Dude, that looked like a Madden game.

Yes it is. They last won in 1908. The Pirates won in 1909.
Sorry to pile on like that. On the upside, Chicago won three World Series in a row from 1906-1908.
I love all those Cubs fans ..... are you kidding? I know you're rooting for the Bears and Bulls, and you had a lot of success there. Almost every City has had teams with success. There are three that have truly suffered ... Buffalo, Seattle and Cleveland. I am cursed with Cleveland.
Now, try being a Cleveland sports fan. Oh christ. The Browns last won in 1964, and I don't even want to talk about Sipe throwing the interception, or John Elway, the fumble or the drive.
And the Indians, let's try 1948. Longest wait for a World Series outside of the Cubs.
And the Cavs .... let's try never.
It's been a painful life. I've never witnessed a championship. Never.
