I could picture him being sponsored by Axe or Tag body spray. Or maybe a salon.
It's called sarcasm.
you're obvious.
The Registerguard article mentioned nothing of a specific endorsement deal, and if there is such a thing, he is treading on dangerous ground. He can talk to an agent about what he might expect if he turned pro, but if he signs anything or is promised anything specific (and caught), he's in deep doodoo with the NCAA

I don't think NCAA rules apply to Rupp. At least they haven't in the past.
It's a f***ing joke.
I'll call bs because we all know that nike will pay him whatever he wants and he is basically already owned by them and saladbar.
It's like if there was a headline about TXRunnerGIRL and then below it said she was planning getting laid this year. It's a god damned joke!!!!
would you have gotten the sarcasm if salazar and the gouchers and the nike campus and its water treadmills also signed with puma?
or if bob kennedy signed with puma..? what a joke!
Uncle Al. Don't be disparaging your favorite niece. Surely you know TXrunnerG and Wejo are secretly married. There were pictures on letsrun.com to prove it. A picture is worth a thousand words!

Even if this were true (and it could be), who really cares? I mean, distance running in this country needs a spark, and the epicenter of the resurgence is in Eugene, subsidized by Nike, run by Vin Lananna, and represented by Galen Rupp. If he is a de facto pro athlete who very well could end up breaking Henry Rono's ALL-TIME collegiate records, then so be it. It is GOOD for the sport ultimately. It is GOOD for everyone in the sport. Yes, Alan Webb can compete internationally in the mile, and yes, Ryan Hall has given us new promise in the marathon, but in between the bookends, there really isn't anyone consistently yet. Rupp could end up being that guy, the golden boy of distance running. I hestitate to call him the next Steve Prefontaine. He isn't the next Steve Prefontaine. He is the current Galen Rupp. And from all appearances, he is our most talented collegiate start EVER!
Do you think that Rupp could ever run 26:40 or take it to Bekele with 400m to go?

Not yet and maybe never without any supplementation, but I think he is the best possible LONG-TERM prospect to go sub-27 and compete internationally. Even so, the question is irrelevant to the point I'm making. Whether or not Rupp can ever be a medal contender in the 10,000, he is still the most fundamentally talented distance runner in the US between the mile and marathon, given his age.
