A few weeks ago I developed some injury in my lower leg,it appears to be the same thing I did around this time last year and I'm headed out college in a week (I don't run for my school) so I'm not going to bother trying to get to my foot/ankle doctor and the physical therapist I saw last year. If it's what I did last year it's some form of tendinitis/shin splints on the inside of my lower leg that comes along with a tight calf muscle.
At the end of September there's a race my fraternity is counting on me to run well in for a team competition but I'm out of shape to begin with and slowly getting back into running will not get me much if any faster (and I'm way over racing weight at the moment too) but it would most likely lead to overtraining because I'd get too into race training and further injury. Has anyone ever use aqua jogging as their main exercise and raced well on it? I'm thinking about going two weeks of just pool running and then starting to add a short run or two (20-30 minutes) a week into the mix just to test things out. Would it be possible to run a decent 10k race on 7 weeks of pool running with the last 5 weeks including 1-4 short runs per week depending on how my leg reacts to land running?
