What's his best film? My vote goes to either Persona or The Hour of the Wolf.
Wrong again. It's spelled M-I-C-H-A-E-L B-A-Y.
Persona is my favourite. I also love Fanny And Alexander, Cries And Whispers, and ...ah screw it....I love them all!!! :)

I know this is a joke, but it still makes me feel like throwing up.
Pretty much immediately after I hit "post" it hit me just how many people out there (fresh out of the theaters from seeing "Transformers" no doubt) probably actually have that viewpoint. The "joke" immediately lost all humor to me.
I'd WOULD like to point out how much I've enjoyed seeing so many European giants continue poignant, relevant, and impressive work in film into rather advanced age - something that, IMO, hasn't happened nearly as regularly with their American counterparts. There's really no two ways about it: I will always appreciate Bergman if for no other reason than her work in "Casablanca."
No?
(In all seriousness, I will always cherish Bergman's films, and I know his work will always occupy a spot on my small and special "pantheon" shelf, reserved for the DVDs of only my favorite and most-respected films.)

it's because of me.
www.skuj.comOMG. Michelangelo Antonnioni also passed away today. This is crazy. Two Giants Of Film within the last 24-36hrs. In the last 2-3 years I really got into both Bergman and Antonnioni films. This is a very strange day indeed.
