I've never heard of this before, and I didn't know that doping was distinctly more prevalent in Morocco. Anyone else have more info on this or other Moroccan athletes?

Yes, apparently the doping so widespread that Moroccan kids shoot up at the airport.
Or so the brojos would have us believe.
I wonder if the planes look plain.

but of course uta is clean because she was cleared by a court....cough,...cough, or so the brojos would have us believe.....its just that everyone they don't like is dirty.
its an easy game. because probably everyone at the top is dirty, so you just accuse all the people you don't like and dare them to expose themselves.
I'm a little confused... are you talking about plain sight? or plane site (airport)? :-)
Hah, my bad. Yes, "plain sight."

If only the creators of this site would be so quick to correct their mistakes.
They would correct it to "plain site".
Why would they shoot up in front of everyone like that?
How do you know they were even shooting performance enhancers?
Could have been shooting smack for all we know.
Diabetes is a worldwide problem. Accusing these athletes of doping when they are taking their insulin shots is unforgivable.
I bumped into two Moroccans while training in Sierra Nevada, Spain in 2002. The town was empty, and all three of us were runners, so we hung out and trained together for a couple of weeks. A lot of training was done down in Grenada away from the altitude. As I was the only one with a car I drove everyone around and was quite happy with that. Met their fellow students down in Grenada, all in all a really nice bunch of folks.
One day before heading back up the mountain the younger of the two brothers, Rachid, asked me to stop by the pharmacy. I did so, and noticed he came out with a large brown paper bag of stuff. "Vitamins" he explained. Thought it was a little unusual that two young lads who were not exactly rolling in money, could afford to spend so much on vitamins, but let it go. We had discussed doping already a lot, and they were strongly against it. As I left Sierra Nevada the elder of the two brothers gave me his Moroccan vest and shorts, the ones he'd worn at the World Juniors in Chile, by way of thanks for my driving. It was an especially nice touch since I'd been working at the World Juniors in 2000 for a results company.
The lads had a couple of goals coming up that year: the younger to make the Moroccan World junior team (1500m), the elder to get into Grand Prix races (3k chase). Don't know if they made it, but I do know that two years later Abdelatif Chemlal, who had run 8:20 at a GP II, failed an EPO test. Looking back now, it wasn't vitamins over the counter. Perhaps others can confirm what can and can't be bought in Spain by someone simply walking into a pharmacy?

American high school students are on the roids... hang around a high school in socal you will see whats happening...
Its the Americans that are on a doping mission, so stop pointing fingers.
American officials also cover up the roids culture.
Its a problem wherever it is easily available.
You are doing no better by pointing the finger back at them.
yes but i am pointing the finger at the finger pointer which cancels out my pointing.
usa is dirtiest nation out there.
national doping program for sprinters.
wise up.
In Spain
the arab athletes
shoot up mainly on the plain
except when it rains
so then
they shoot up mainly on the plane.
hahahahahahaha

Maybe it was condoms and anal lube?
they were going to have a major su** and f**k fest.
HAHA Well said
have heard 2nd hand stories about a few spaniards, incl estevez, and their "short build-ups".
While I think your logic about finger pointing is slightly flawed - equivelant to "two wrongs making a right" I would like to see any evidence of a national doping program for US sprinters.
I agree there has been widespread use of steroids amoungst US sprinters and a few Brits :), but to extrapolate that fact into the realm of a nationaly sponsored drug program might be taking it a bit far.
The only known case of a drug program being endorsed by the state was the GDR, unless you are aware of any others?
I suspect in most cases, with most countries it is a case of rogue coaches and athletes trying to get an advantage over their competitors and depending on the ability and the will of certain institutions they may or may not get away with it.

You're wrong. It was officially admitted that the following countries ran a state-wide doping programs during 70s and 80s: DDR (East Germany), Bulgaria, USSR, Czechoslovakia, Romania, Hungary, Poland. Well, almost the whole Eastern European block with the exception of Yogoslavia and Albania, but with the inclusion of West Germany, Austria, and Netherlands.
To be honest, none of the athletes from that era (be it from the communist block or from the western block) that achieved any spectacular results, were clean. To think otherwise, is to close the eyes and play stupid.
