Hi all,
I want to design a website for my college team this fall. I have always been a fan of NCC Harrier, Orange Crush, and the now-defunct Run-Insight among other team sites and I want to do a good job with our team's.
What type of program(s) do you recommend for building a good amateur website? I have a very basic grasp of simple html (I can publish a "hello world" page but that's about it) - are those sites written with html? Or is a WYSIWYG-sort of program the best option? I would like it to be a visually appealing page with lots of images and I don't want to be debugging endless lines of code. I know Dreamweaver is the high end product but I don't want to spend that much; what program would be my best bet in this area?
Also, I am looking for recommendations as far as hosting goes. I have a Yahoo-based service provider at home that offers me a domain name and Yahoo Pagebuilder for a reasonable rate - or am i better off figuring out how FTP works and hoping one of the $2.99/month hosting sites is reliable?
Thank you for any advice, and any other tips for starting a good team website are very much appreciated!
