I'm 26 years old and have been recovering from an achilles injury for 3 months. The steeple is one of my best races, but is it too risky now that I am getting older and have has achilles problems?

Take the rest of this year off from steeple. Concentrate on the rest of your game: mileage, threshhold, weight training, etc. The rest will do your achilles good and working on the others will improve your weaknesses. By next late march or early april you should be able to work back into your spikes for some speed. You'll be surprised how much stronger you will be.
