Loss of life is FAR worse.
Is this even a discussion?
Killing dogs. With doping the adverse effect is felt upon you not some third party.
In terms of losing sponsors, cycling would lose more. Vick is a individual who is part of the NFL. He can be dismissed from the league under the new policies. Cycling the entire sport seems to suffer and it is not seen as a single individual but rather a systemic problem within the sport.
If the allegations against Vick are true he is truly a a scumbag (I'm going easy on the language). I'm no fan of pit bulls and would be fine if the US enacted a policy like Canada which does not allow them, but until we do I'm no fan of them, but I don't think they should be killed or used in dog fights. As John Stewart said last night - perhaps we should cover him in liver and see how the dogs treat him.
Rapant drug use in football...
rapant drug use in baseball...
rapant drug use in other professional sports...
vs
Killing dogs...
Dogs win.
can no one on this thread spell rampant? it's not "rapant" and it's not "rampantat"
Are you kidding?
Dog fighting is about as low-life as you can possibly get.
Hitting dogs with bikes or training dogs to kill each other?
There is rampant drug use in football, along with many of the NFL players having gang associations.
Part of the gang culture involves dog fighting amongst it's many other along with it's many other wonderful attributes.
