"""""Are we talking about the same coach who got an e-mail sent to his Butler address when he was first hired and cleaning things out in Indy from an interested potential runner. This same runner has left several e-mails and voice mails at the UNM for him and as of this evening had not even got a interest call??? And during the transition messages were left for him with the athletic dept secretary. I am sorry, but, I have to take a very strong issue with your statement and in my book he appears to be an asshole at this time. Maybe he will get the message and treat New Mexico potential recruits with the same respect as he does his overseas recruits. Brining in runners already fast isn't good coaching, it is good recruiting.""""
YOu have some major issues you turd. I'm sure the guy had other stuff to do like buy a new house, assemble a staff, and move across country than return your all-important personal call. Get over yourself. If you havent been recruited by now- you really suck! Winning is good recruiting.
Who are you "British Please" im sure i can help you out.
Find me on facebook.
BULL-SHIT! It is NOT great coaching, it is great TRAVEL-AGENTING. There is plenty of "diamond in the rough" talent in UNM's backyard in the form of Chicano and Native American talent.Maybe if he went the domestic deveolpment route he wouldn't have to spend as much money just to fluke a one-time trip to the top 4 podium at NCAA's.

How do you know he is not going the domestic route in New Mexico?.. Joe has already been to local meets and spoke to a number of athletes in New Mexcio.
At Butler this was not possible to do because of the bright lights of the bigger schools like IU, ND, and Purdue.. Hence the English/Irish route.
And as for the "wouldn't have to spend as much money" comment, its actually cheaper to have 2 English recruits to grad school then 1 american as an undergrad.
Fluke?.. We were the 4th best team on that day. thats how it goes.
Thanks for proving the point for us in your own words.

sorry to hear about your misfortune. But I am a mediocre runner at best, especially for Butler this next year. I contacted him back around March-April time... and I was really looking into running simply to run. I had already decided on the school. We set up a meeting where I was already down at Butler setting up my schedule, I got to meet with Coach Franklin and Coach Howarth for a good hour, talked about my running, my studies, and a few other things we like and dislike about the world. And I am no stud to grab his attention... so sorry to hear about your case.
It was not improbable that we would finish 4th that year if you look at the results. Therefore not really a fluke.
Also a fluke would imply that the occurrence could not be repeated, seeing as the team were all seniors there is no reason why it could not be done again.
Scott, excuse some of my fellow New Mexicans. Many here are holding on to the idea that UNM can have a competitive team with mainly NM recruits and it's just not true. I have always felt that UNM needs to the ability to recruit beyond NM's borders to be a consistently competitive program. NM has some great athletes each year, but due to our low population, there isn't much depth and on top of it, most of NM's top high school kids have chosen to go out-of-state in recent years. I hope Coach Franklin can convince the next generation of Tebo's, Guliford's, Harper's, Hemphill's and Johnsons's to stay in the Land of Enchantment.
Congrats on a 4th place NCAA finish! It's ironic that someone is flaming Butler for their 4th place finish when here in Loboland we cling to our one 9th place result.

At least you know who his REAL name is.
The Dude who is criticizing Franklin- you are such a loser!
He's probably not interested in people who are douchebag crybabies.
