Hello Letsrun, I would like to greatly improve my 800m next spring. I'm going into my senior year of highschool and want to kick some ass! I have some questions but first, some info on me.. Freshmen year my 800m was 2:41, and a couple of months ago as a Junior I ran 2:15. I know it's not fast but a good jump off of easy mileage and just running. I still have trouble breaking 20 in a 5k and my 3200m PR is 11:55. I've never ran anything more than 30-40mpw consistantly. I'm not sure on my 400 capabilities but I ran a 58 at the end of a workout Sophomore year if that helps.
I'd really like to lower my 800m next spring and have some questions. Along with consistant mileage, as much as I can handle well.. what kind of workouts will be good to help prepare me next spring? Is it that bad to go to a track once a week and run some moderately hard 400-800s? I just started lifting with free weights if that helps, but help would be much appreciated.
