Only 42% of America's college population is male...
I, for one, do not like how that sounds one bit.

Why? Afraid?
Greater than 60% of the medical students in this country are female.
At my school, it is 2/3 female, 1/3 male.

ARE YOU KIDDING?! THAT MEANS A BIGGER POOL OF WOMAN TO CHOOSE FROM NUMBNUTS (at least if you are still in college)
Assuming that 10% are homosexual, that leaves .10 x .42 = 4.2% for a dating pool for the OP. That = Big Frowny Face :(

I, too, do not like how that sounds. I (like i presume the OP is) am a big-picture kinda guy. I don't like this trend one bit.
Actually, it'll be 60 percent to 40 percent in the fall of 2007. Read The War Against Boys. And yes, this is a huge problem. And to add to that, 79 percent of teachers in K-12 education are women. In elementary it's 91 percent to 9, women teachers to men teachers. In high school, it's 65 to 35. Eventually, we'll manage to get men out of education altogether.
"We are a generation raised by women.
I'm wondering if another woman is the answer."
-Tyler Durden
Somehow none of this bothers me, not even a bit
And they still can't beg and throw enough scholarship money at female athletes to get them out for sports.
Let the girls spend their 20's paying off $100,000 in college debt, while the boys get jobs in the trades right out of high school. Unless there's something you're dying to do that you need a college degree for, college is for suckers.
At my school when I went there it was 2/3 men and 1/3 women. Now it is slightly over 50% women.
Damn!

I never thought about how many women go into teaching. my kids are screwed. i agree, huge problem
I looked into the numbers and discovered that the female advantage correlates completely with fatherless families (the story ran in National Review last year). Boys in intact families are as likely to attend and graduate from college as girls are. Internationally the same pattern holds. In Switzerland, which leads Europe in the proportion of intact families, nearly sixty percent of the college students are boys, while in Scandinavia, with world leading lack of intact families, girls dominate with around 60 percent. As a general rule--which I cite as an exception myself, mostly raised by women--women cannot raise boys to become men.
My School, University of Missouri- Rolla, is 23% women. Its also 85% engineering students. I would venture to say that many women are in Bullsh*t majors like psychology and journalism. Its not really a legit degree unless it you take Diff EQ.
It is depressing, yes. But it's good for social lives.
"Men will always be the superior sex for as long as mankind exists. Even smart women have less common sense than a low-class male."
agreed, they are so stupid!
(that's why so many are graduating Phi Beta Kappa and going to med school and to get other advanced degrees.)
But over 80% of women want to stay at home or work part time. What a waste...
