the 110, the 2, and the Men's pole vault were pretty good.
I don't think Lukezic broke 3:42.
he just needs to come back to the states and train. That was just...
it was bad.

Peeps, how fast have you run, buddy?
I run faster than you think.
But I know a burned out athlete. Lukezic just broke down. If he was a horse, we'd consider putting him to rest.
3:45 high?, I've beaten that, in similar conditions.
without rabbits.
or 3:3x guys.
no, actually you haven't.

Does anyone else find this argument as meaningless and annoying as I do? I have not and never will run faster than Chris Lukezic, and he is a very solid runner, but I know more than enough about the sport to make judgments regarding the relative strength and weakness of a given performance.
There was no personal attack involved, merely a perfectly legitimate observation that Lukezic ran slowly today. Perhaps this was due to rain, or cold, or sickness or injury. Who knows. The point remains that he ran slow, and how fast my PR is does not change this. I have a PR of 3:52. If I have run 3:42, do I somehow magically become qualified to judge Lukezic's 3:45?
If LeBron were to average 12 PPG next year, under your logic, hardly any sportswriter in America would have any ground to address LeBron's sub-par season because they themselves could not score 12 ppg in the NBA. I guess only Charles Barkley and Reggie Miller could say anything.
In your mind, a knowledgeable sportswriter such as Peter Gammons has zero ground with which to criticize, say, Julio Lugo, who is having an atrocious year (hitting < .200) after signing a $36 M deal for the BoSox.
This defense seems to crop up all over LetsRun. Please no more!
thats impressive. are you an elite runner?

Calm down, pooh bear. Peeps is an ass, plain and simple. And most likely a troll. Either way, he's an embarrassment to VA. My larger point is this: how exactly is "peeps" qualified to make a statement like 'Lukezic should come home to the states and train' when he has absolutely no insight into what is going on with the kid. He makes a moronic statement like this based on this race. I was simply curious to hear how fast peeps has run. The kid likes to spout off about anything and everything, so why not here his running cred. The difference with sportswriters is that they have access to a lot more info. than you jerkies do about Lukezic. They talk with coaches, gms, players themselves. You see the difference, right?
I'll be frank-
When you down in it, bumpin, grindin, gettin low and gettin dirty you have a certain appreciation- anyone who has run under 4 for a 15 has a general idea.
Lukezic ran 3:36 in IU, without rabbits and paced by Webb, Lagat, and Manzano.
Today, he was, I don't know where he was. At least finish the damn thing in 30. I think he ran 32 for the last 200. Thats jogging for him. Thats jogging for me. Thats jogging for a girl that runs 4:40. There is no excuse, he's either sick, in which case he should NOT have been running in that weather, or he has something else wrong. Myers beat him, jesus. He's run amazingly fast times. How you slip and run 3:46 with THESE GUYS when you only MAYBE get 10-12 good shots at a 15, in europe in your ENTIRE CAREER is beyond me.
He's going to Osaka if Lagat decides not to run it, and I'd rather have Lagat run it than Lukezic. He'd be out in the first round with a 3:44 or some god awful time.
Next year is the big year, maybe he can come back and get it right then.
"you jerkies"...classy.
Needless slangy insults aside, you raise a valid point concering sportswriters' communication with GM's etc.
Judging the relative strength and weakness of a 3:45 is not remotely analagous. Any casual observer of the sport knows that is a poor time for a WC semi-finalist.
Do you need to talk to GM's, players and coaches to know .190 is a poor batting average, or 12 PPG is poor form for a top-flight scorer?
there's a slight difference between "that's a bad time" and "he just needs to come back to the states and train." any numbnut can figure the first out. the second, to be accurate, requires actual information - something a numbnut like peeps doesn't have.

I know, 'jerkies' is pretty harsh.
Listen, there is no debating Lukezic ran poorly. Saying he did so is obvious and redundant. It takes no qualifications to do so. My issue is with that mental giant, peeps, saying that "Lukezic needs to come back to the states". It is ridiculous given that the person in question, 'peeps', has no insight whatsoever into the specifics of Lukezic's situation. Are you following me?
quit ruining a good thread by bashing lukezic, take that back to the sorry ass thread you started about him.
back on topic tyson gay is putting together one of the all time great sprint seasons in history. if he can get a WR and a gold (possibly 2) by seasons end it will pretty much seal the deal. i think its a matter of time before he gets the 100m wr. the 200m might be safe for awhile, though i could see gay getting into the 19.4 range soon.
I think the Osaka WC's could be a special one. I hear the track is fast. I don't know how hot or humid it gets there, but Gay could run some jaw dropping times.
