Who will apply? Who should get the job?
Who will apply? Who should get the job?
Could Bert Rogers get the promotion?
Not realistic. They will hire a distance coach. That school wont be good in anything but womens distance. I think they may look to judy wilson or maybe Scott Jones at Akron. Maybe McGreevey at UConn. Maybe Hadsellat Toledo who apparently turned down Vanderbilt last summer. My money is on a distance coach. How about Brad Hunt? Karen Harvey?
I'd be surprised if Karen Harvey left the Big Ten.
I think Harvey would go to the Big East to be a head coach of a distance program.Big East is no sluch on women' side with Villanova, Providence, GTown, ND, etc..
Hunt is not head coach material. He has never even been the distance coach at a school yet.
Jones and Wilson are good choices.
I don't think Hadsell will leave Toledo for Marquette if he would turn down Vanderbilt.
What about Dave Uhrich?
bumples
they are a horrible track team. That school needs to continue to be a women's distance program. They will hire a coach that has been successful at that. Why hire a non-distance coach from within? Any one of coaches listed above would be great choice.
I checked the MU website today and it is not even posted internally. Now I know they don't have to put it on the NCAA website, but I would think they do have to file it with their own Employment Office.
I think they are wasting a ton of time if they want someone ready for XC practice on August 15.

Your guess is as good as mine. I would like to know who I will be running for.
It would be awesome to see ROJO apply for the position and get the job
The position is posted on Marquette's site:

I truly hope that many good candidates apply, despite it being late in the summer. It is a very strong women's program with a lot of potential on the men's side.
Head Cross Country/Assistant Track & Field (Distance) Coach
This means Bert Rogers is the new Head T&F Coach.
This is not the same job as before. It was Head of everything. They are not going to get the same application pool...
This is Duty and Responsibility #9:
9. Establish guidelines and policies for training of cross country and distance track student-athletes in coordination with the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach.
Why would the Head Strength & Conditioning Coach have a say in the XC training plan? If it was weight training. I would understand, but it clearly does not say weight training.
This is a very good program with a solid tradition and potential for Distance running on both side (M&W), but they are not going to get a mid- to top- level coach to come in and be an Assistant T&F Coach (my opinion)...
I am looking forward to the follow-up points...
Why would you think they'd seek a top-level coach? I'm sure they'll seek the best candidate they can get, but what indication do you have that they'd roll out the red carpet for a stud coach?
Not having an indoor track is going to limit your candidates when your school is in the arctic.
it's most likely either by your mom or my mom
