I can reveal that Seb Coe's actual 5000m best is 13.56 AND it was set in a training session.
The other day i was looking through my old copies of Athletics Weekly and came across a Frank Horwill article. It had the usual contents of Tim Hutchings blah blah 5km pace blah blah don't run more than 50mpw blah blah
At the bottom it said that Seb Coe did a session he conducted of 7*800m in 2.02 with a 100m jog recovery in 30 seconds. Now if you add up the first 5000 metres of the session including the 100m jog recovery it equals 13.56, 10 seconds quicker than his stated best of 14.06.
If this is correct and Horwill is not talking out of his arse than the statisticians around the world need to update their records.
After 3 everybody say who's a clever boy then.
1 2 3 ......
For my fellow geeks out there the article in question appeared in the January 12th 2006 issue.
