WTF? Over 28? Was it 110 degrees or something?

It was disappointing. More like 79 degrees. Why would Abdi run away by such a large margin in such a slow pace? Rupp and Ritz should have been battling it out with him within a second. They should be gunning for an AR, not putzing around 70+ seconds slower. I really hope they peak properly in August.
this would have been the perfect time to "pretend" like it was a championship type race ... c'mon.
abdi ran a nice negative split - on an already slow pace.
rupp ran a great race for a rookie
ritz was way back in 3rd, and held off an old man - nice.
I do believe Ritz gave all he had on the day. He was hurting pretty bad in the end, I don't know if it was dehydration or what. It was very hot and humid. I too was disappointed with the time. Abdi definitely had more in him. He put in a few surges here and there. Hopefully they will run fatser in Worlds.
Mcdougal gave a good fight in the beginning but fell off hard in one lap around 6k in.
Is this the same Ritz that didn't have enough stregth to finish his marathon but yet somehow people think that he is going to mysteriously gain stregth and make the Olympic Marathon team?
abdi was interviewed at the end and he said that the weather was great... and that he didn't know why people were complaining about it.
I saw some of those guys before the race wearing those ice vests. Just thought I would throw that in there, haven't seen them before, but heard of them.
by the way, it was cool, really hot and humid earlier. ritz just died with 800 to go.
Abdi's really good. People need to start realizing this.
Well, the result looks like crap but we got a pretty good team going to the worlds.
Abdi is probably our best 10k runner.
Rupp is a kid who may not do anything at worlds but great experience for the future. And with a 27:33 PR he is one of our better 10k guys.
Ritz is in between, still young, and hopefully can gain good experience at worlds. Also has a good PR and he has a lot more potential in this event.
I don't think this is the year that America is going to be in the medals. But we are getting closer.
And isn't it better that these guys had their bad race of the year at the US nationals rather than at the Worlds?
Hall was the biggest disappointment in my mind, but he is coming back from a recent marathon...

Ha! Weather is always great and never an issue when you win.

WTF? Where you there? I was and the weather for June 22 was perfect. Once the sun went down it cooled. Plus about 90 minutes before the race cloud cover moved in and helped a lot. The hunidity was not as bad as it normally is in Indy and the temps compared to last week were real good. You people making excuses just need to STFU. It was a championship race with alot of runners looking like that peaked at Stanford months ago.
hey they didnt race on June 22 dumbass
10K at USAs is always slower than 28:00. Look at your history. And 80 degrees in Indy is not great for running. Not horrible, but not going to run a PR in a championship race in warm conditions. You run PRs in March and April, then run to win in June.

Africans always do fine in the heat. Make Abdi race in 35 degree weather and he'll be the one complaining
Abdi was impressive... the heat was bad... ritz gave everything he had collapsing at the line...americans still don't compare on the world level... just be happy for a good race.
Joe Vigil said about 2-3 years ago that Abdi could be "the second coming of Christ in American distance running."
I'm from the Indianapolis area and was there tonight for the 10,000s -- for mid-June, the weather wasn't bad by Indianapolis standards, but I wouldn't call the conditions fast either. Fast was Sacramento last week, and to a little lesser extent Eugene the next day (I was at both). Jorge said in an interview before the meet that he went from Boulder to his parents' place in the Chicago suburbs to readjust to Midwest heat/humidity. Abdi's comment about the weather was that compared to 110 degrees in Arizona it was nice.
The end results don't tell how the race unfolded. Culpepper did a nice job of gradually working his way up throughout the race, but it took me a long time to notice him, and he was never in the race. Hall was for a long time, but couldn't hold it. McDougal was trying to stay in it for a long time, but couldn't. Cabada was 2nd at 3200m I think. Shay was in the top 4 for the first 2400m. It took me about 3200m to notice Rupp, and longer to notice Torres, and longer than that to notice Hartmann. It was Abdi and Ritz who were up there the whole way, until Dathan really, really struggled on the final lap.

81F, 53% humidity & 11mph breeze is actually pretty mild for summer. Outdoor track's main season is during the summer, so I don't know why we always have to make excuses over seasonal weather.
