I ran 4:15 in the mile and 3:56 in the 1500. Now I understand that el guerrouj was the best miler/1500 runner ever and is obviously way faster than me but I feel like our workouts/performances should be about the same ratio. Reality:
My 1500 pace (:63) best workouts,(9x400@62 with 1 minute rest)
His 1500 pace (:54.9) WO's,(10x400@53-54 with 30sec rest)
my easy runs: about 6:30 pace
His: 5:00 pace or faster..."El Guerrouj can run one day between 3:00-3:10/km pace and sometimes at 2:50/km"
When you look at his "aerobic runs" (which I'll assume is synonymous with "easy run") they are 1 full minute faster than mine. So this would be like me running 10x400@61-62 with 30 seconds rest. I might be able to do 6 at the very most, certainly not 10. If I were able to do 10, I should be able to run sub 3:50. And then running easy runs at 5:30 pace, which I would consider a workout. This would essentially mean I would do a workout everyday...Wait! Athletes who blood dope can do a workout everyday!
