Why, why, why must you lure me to the darkside? Nothing good can come of it.

It only gets worse:
"Elite Runners" are those people who are given special recognition or privileges at running events.
"Elite" as a term for runners, is sometimes confused with "professional" with respect to the sport of running.
However, anyone given special attention at a running event is an "elite runner." Oprah, Pdiddy and Lance Armstrong are "elite runners."
If you want to be an "elite runner," either become rich and famous or remarkably fast.
A billion dollars or a sub4 mile or a sub 2:15 marathon will usually qualify anyone as "elite."

damn, that guy sucks! what a dweeb! I'd love to see him post that here... "my supportive boss" hahahaha
I don't get it, why aren't they making fun of each other? Does not compute.
Their culture is entirely alien to our own.
Kaiser SF 5k run 02/04/07 (first race)- 36:09
Chinese New Year 5k 2/25/07-29:57 (PR)
Presidio 10k (first 10k) 04/01/07 1:01:18

Okay, I knew these people were out there... but Jesus Christ, some of these folks are really, really slow.
in complete seriousness, i haven't seen one negative comment. I mean I'm not like a hateful cynic or anything, but the attitude over there is really disgustingly supportive. How are these penguins supposed to get better if no one is there to tell them how much they suck?

Finals of course. I am writing my news article on dog exercise. Too bad it won't be as spectacular as the430miler's. I did get back an article I already wrote about Diane Wholey (she coaches here and is going to be head manager for the women's team in Osaka this summer) that my professor said to talk to him about getting published in our school's paper, so that's exciting. I think I'll finish this one up at the last minute tomorrow though because I am about to fall asleep. Or maybe I'll go for my 12 miler at three in the morning...

It can be if you mention the steak on the shirt as an incentive to exercise.

Try it sometime. It's really funny to see that forum explode when you try to suggest that somebody train harder. Nobody wants to hear the cold hard truth. It's the zeitgeist of the second boom.
Some people are just happy finishing and enjoying the ride. They don\'t want to to put in 80 mile weeks and speedwork.
Live and let live.
I'm going to try it. Watch me crash and burn.el kabong wrote:

wow, you have no sense of sarcasm do you?
ignorance isn't really bliss
it would be just as easy to find really (equally or more) stupid posts on this forum
it's just like any genre of discourse - vast majority is garbage, a little bit worthwhile mixed in
and every now and then, a true gem
Let's Run = Original Running Boom, balls to the walls, hard core training, azz kicking PR busters drinking dee-fizzed Coke on the fly
Runner's World = new running boom, no balls, Gallo-walkers, "do I look fat in these mom jeans" and taking Running Room clinics and it's ok just to finish that 10km if you do your 10 and 1's, "let's go grab another no-fat Latte"
So letsrun posters complain a lot about fat people and slow people and people waddling back from long lunches. Then there are some people out there that run races and go out to run a few miles a few times a week just to be a little fit and to enjoy life. Apparently those guys are worthy of ridicule as well.
But then lestrun posters also make fun of skinny runners who are fast. And Ryan Hall. And anyone who isn't themselves. And sometimes themselves, too.
Okay, I finally get it. Everyone gets ridiculed.
Carry on.

Letsrun = The children of the above who act like they are Old Running Boom types while living at home til they are 30 and getting a car and allowance, overusing the word "dude" working at Blockbuster and blaming penguins for their inabilty to crack the top 5 at the local fun run.
