When oh when are shoe companies going to abandon the ridiculous stiff rigid heel tabs on their shoes? Virtually every pair of shoes I buy I have to do some kind of diy on the heel tab or I will end up with painful, swollen lumps on my achilles after a few days of running. Why do they ahve to be so rigid, in most shoes their sole purpose is to pull the shoe on. The only shoe I have seen recently with a soft pliable achilles tab is the new adidas adistar light.
I belive the reason for this is becasue years ago when there was actually sme craft in shoe making the shoes were mainly slip lasted, the uppers therefore were sock-like and soft and pliable, now everything is either glued to a board or runner, the rigid heel counter/heel tab gives the shoe some shape but incraeses its rigidity.
When are shoe cmpanies going to get the message?
