I'm a huge fan, but...
if Hall were to quit running today, it's not very likely that he would be remembered as a legend.

Agreed. One GREAT non-championship race (and it was great) does not a legend make. Right now he's of the same status as Mark Nenow (though Hall's run was far better than anything Nenow did).
That's exactly who I was thinking of.
it was a championship race, it was the US champs half marathon

I disagree. When Nenow ran his 27:20.56, it was the third fastest performance (and performer) of all-time, behind only the 27:17.48 of Lopes and 27:13.81 WR of Mamede.

Yes. A stellar performance for the time. I agree with that. Still, people, even runners, don't think of Nenow as a legend. Nenow's record was a better run only in that it was higher up the list then, but as the world is way more competitive now, Hall's run is better in my opinion.

Well brother, it appears that you and I have been thinking more and more alike these days. Good call brother.
Who is Pamela Anderson's Left Nipple?
Dave L. that's who call me when you wake up.
Hall is The Great White Hope. Hall has to do as well as Wittenberg says in a head to head race with the Kenyans and Ethipians to be taken seriously, and pass the doping tests. Then Hall can be more than just a flash. We'll see how he does at World Cross in Mombasa. That's the only way to tell if Hall is for real.

Hey there brother! Hope things are well.
No idea who Pamela Anderson's Left Nipple is, but as long as he's thinking along the same lines as I am, he's on the right path.
You can only run as quick as those around you, who is to say Nenow would not have been quicker if the competition had not been greater. I dont think you should compare runners from one generation to another.

Why bother worrying about drug tests? The Africans are let off if they're caught, all the better to keep you thinking you can't compete. Look at the 'real' Lagat story, not the PC version. Look at the reasons athletes take Clomid, don't believe prattle about '...wanting to have children,' while they're competing.

Wrong, why can't you run quicker than those around you? some magical forcefield?
